This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh Becky, I’m so sorry. I so so sorry! I just got in from work and read your post.
If there is anything you need help with...anything...call me and I’ll come out and help you.
Remember when you had the cookout and you asked me to bring Fritos? I was so pleased to be able to contribute and help you out with that. I’d be pleased to help you once again. Can I bring you a meal on Monday or Tuesday?
Aw Becky! Words fail me. I can’t begin to tell you how sorry I am. I’m glad to hear that he’s home, but I sure wish there was a happier reason for it.
I know that everybody’s days are numbered and only God knows when it’s our time to go home, but that doesn’t make it any easier on the ones who are left behind. Mack is a great man and I’m proud I got to meet him before all this happened. I’ll pray for his peace and for yours too.
Good morning...
Thanks for the kind thoughts, and sympathy.
He had a good night, slept most of it. I feel so much better having got to sleep in my own bed:), rather then the narrow hard couch at the hospital. Geez, that is just cruel and inhuman punishment for family members, especially since the hospital really likes having family members stay...
It is very cold here today, but later, I’m taking a walk around the place, check out my horses, and see how many limbs are down out in the pasture...I haven’t even been out there to see.
Becky
Yeah, I’ve slept on those little beds too. They ain’t no fun.
It’s pretty cold here too, and the snow they were predicting hasn’t materialized, and I don’t think it’s going to. Cheated again!
I’m fixing to get up and head to the barn for a bit too. I’ve gotta trim Grace’s feet. She was the only one I didn’t get around to doing last weekend. Then I need to work on getting my tax stuff together and work around the house a little bit. So I’ll talk to ya a bit later...
Good morning and good to hear from you.
Very glad you were able to get him home. I hope it makes all the difference in both of you being at peace these days.
As Frog said, I too am glad I got to meet him before all this happened. It makes even harder to imagine that he has crashed so fast. He’s a good man! I can’t imagine he’s not still tellin’ jokes. My heart breaks for you having to lose him so soon.
You know we’ll do anything we can do for you. Feel free to call too. And use 2J if she can help, since she’s lucky enough to be close by. It sounds silly that she would be thrilled to bring fritos, but she really would be thrilled to bring fritos! I know this!
When my mom was in the hospital, they offered us rollaway beds... they had a bar that would hit you in the back about 3 am, but I think they were better than the couches.
Ah well, it’s still good to be home.
Tell us how the horses are when you go for your walk.
Was there even time to clean up the yard after the ice storm? Boy, I wish I was there to help with that!
The above was to you, of course... :~)
Need more coffee...
It’s very good to be home:) I think we are all doing 100% better:)
No my yard is still full of broken limbs...Kristy has been gathering some of the smaller ones to take home and burn in her wood burning stove, but there is still a lot to do, but you know...it will still be there when I’m ready to deal with it, I’m not to worried about it.
Becky
So is Mack in the living room? Is he asleep most of the time, or has he been able to be awake and know he’s home and talk to you and the kids? It sounded from your update last night as if he might have changed quite a bit even from when we talked earlier in the week. I know that was a lot of days ago now for you, but for us it seems so fast.
Yeah - I know the limbs are a small thing, but we’d each help according to what we know how to do, and that kind of thing would be right up me n’ ecurbh’s alley. I sure wish we could come help with that.
I’ve even thought seriously about whether I could actually come, but we’re just flat broke at the moment. We had to write a big check for taxes again last week and we couldn’t cover all of it. We’ll have to pay more when the final return is due in April. Phooey. Bush might be pushing through a tax rebate, we could sure use it!
Yes, he is in the living room, and yes he knows he’s home, and does talk to us some. It’s a bit hard to understand him at times. He had a lot of visitors after we got home last night, and I believe he knew everyone.
He has changed from when I talked to you. I think it was that night that he started having pain in his back and a leg, the doctors believe the cancer has spread to his bones. That’s pretty much when we decided we had done enough, and it was time to come home, and let him be left alone. It seems to be
Becky
Very cold here too. Low teens and only one degree tonight...brrrr.
My ex-Mother-in-law turns 90 today and the children (she had 7) are having a party for her tomorrow, that I am going to. She is a sweet lady, very spry, still drives.
I’m so sorry Becky.
You and Mack will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Well, I’m glad he’s been able to talk then, and you’ve been able to talk to him and have visitors come.
We’re very sorry to hear about Mack. You and Mack and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. OB & LSA
Lil, from the Hobbit Hole
There ya go... I knew you could do it ;~)
