This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
LOL. There you go. They are a pack and they are littermates. Bet they have never been out of each others sight. That explains their closeness and being littermates. They don’t need anyone or anything else because they have got each other and you.
And good Sat. afternoon to you.
It says that we have to log in or create an account.
Would you like me to add you to the ping list?
Sure. Thanks. Really nice of you.
No problem! Welcome! Do you have any horses of your own?
I was out at a Retriever Training Day today with my two. My older dog is sweetly obedient but lacks the high octane for the really long retrieves. We tried her on a 200 yard mark and she came up JUST a little short . . . maybe next time. Otherwise she was perfect - with a little coaching she ran a 60 yard blind retrieve which is longer than she has ever done before, and she ran it with real enthusiasm.
My younger dog, a puppy really (14 months), has all the high octane but lacks discipline. She did much better today though, she did pretty good on 60 yard single marks with ducks, carried them ALMOST all the way back before she spat them out. And she now comes back to me whenever I call. So we are making progress.
But your dogs sound like a dog that one of the trainers had out there today. He is supposed to be a "Silver Lab". There IS no such thing . . . what happened is that somebody had the bright idea of creating another color of Labrador (like 3 isn't enough?) and so they outcrossed to Weimaraners. Unfortunately, Weimaraners aren't generally good retrievers and they are extremely hard-headed. The dog simply stares at you when you throw a bumper. And I hear that the owner paid an incredibly large price for this dog, and expects the trainer to train him . . . . glad it's not my problem!
And the barn is beautiful . . . good wide aisle and nice stalls too. (Garage is cool also, I'll file that away for sales pitch w/ hubby . . . )
We haven't sold the IL house yet (it's been marketed for just about 4 mos., so no breakdowns yet......) and I hate to leave it empty if the new house is ready and this isn't sold, but we haven't gotten that far just yet.
We priced out barns for nearly a year, Morton, Wick, and another brand I can't remember just now, but ended up going with a builder out of Lexington, SC, "HOOVER BUILDINGS". They were able to put up the barn AND the garage - tell your husband the garage has 12 ft. walls, which will facilitate a lift - for the price we were quoted for ONE 36" X 48' Morton barn. It costs ALOT just to have that little "M" on your peaks!!! Amazing. I think they build in NC & SC, and they may build in GA & TN, not sure. Small, family owned and very, very good to deal with.........great sales guys, great office staff, super great crews, neat and clean jobsite, can't say enough good about them. And, they'll do just about anything that you want.
........and, some of them do have horses, so they gave some pretty good suggestions, too...
We're a bit south of Lake Adger and Lake Lure, NC.........
I can remember "Hoover Buildings" - or at least check to see if they build in N GA (which is probably where we're headed when the last kid heads off to college!) Their website says they only build in SC, wonder whazzup widdat?
When we first started looking at barn builders, I saw that too, on their website. So, I didn't call them.......at first. Then, I figured, heck, the area we were looking in was soooooo close to the SC/NC border, we hadn't purchased the land just yet, and I thought, who knows, we could end up 5 feet over the border, then they COULD build...........so I called - and I told them that their website says they build only in SC. And he said noooooo, they build in NC also, and he gave me a few NC references to visit, all of which were very nice! The guy said he was going to try to have that changed...................they should!!!!!........as it may be costing them some potential calls.......I guess they just haven't gotten around to it yet.
A friend is building their new home in Chapel Hill.....I understand it is a VERY lovely area. Once we get settled over in our place (west NC) I'll probably make the trip to visit her in Chapel Hill. Friends of ours here in IL who are Physical Therapists say Winston-Salem/Raleigh/Chapel Hill is where all the action is re: medical, anything R & D, so THEY have friends who are going there in droves, I guess. I'm not sure what defense contractors are down there, I'm sure there must be some.........and with your training and education, you could probably call the shots when it came to employment. Medical & technology is where it's at and chemistry certainly is within all those and MORE.............I wish I would have paid more attention in chemistry class (in HS) but I lost interest after I got in trouble for bouncing a superball in class......:^)
Not anymore for a long while. Used to have Tennesee Walker and a Welsh pony; but that was years ago.
I will always have a fond spot for them though.
Bump to find. I got spammed.
I am not quite sure what you mean. Is it good or bad.
