FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

Oh the plusses outweigh the minuses though with a laid-back horse.

Did you see those minature horses in the parade today? They all looked calm and laid back, except for one who was dancing around. Kindo of funny. A guy was holding the harness and just kept the horse moving. Same moves and several hands higher and it would have been a different story.

I collect old books and I kept those. Then I kept about half the books on horses, maybe a quarter of the books on gardening and cooking.

Ex-DIL still has Josey, she injured herself again and the vet said she’d never be sound - that was in August, but she’s doing fine, no limp so I think the vet was wrong.

I’ve still got CJ, she’s covered with white spots and still has her black mane and tail - oh and legs. Also have Friday, she’s due at the end of February.

I’m good. Waiting for my kids to come over. Are you expecting any of that snow we are hearing about?

Well, the weatherman claims that we’ll get 10 feet in the mountains and a lot in the valley. They generally aren’t real good but who knows? I think we probably will get some, we’ve gotten very little so far.

Made ham, black-eyed peas, collard greens and rolls for dinner. What are you having?

(you can tell Bob’s from the south, traditional New Year’s Day meal)

LOL I swear they have given us at least three *big storm coming, look out* warnings in the past four weeks. As long as we don’t get fogged in or get a pogonip, the sun will handle most of what we get in the valley. And the road plows will be out as soon as it starts falling. The only think they can’t handle real well is the ice.

How are the puppies? How did the duck hunt go?

Don't know if I mentioned this before, but Ruby got her CGC certification (much to my amazement). Her Intermediate Obedience class sponsors the test as a graduation exercise. We'd been rehearsing the necessary tasks for weeks! (Shelley of course just walked in, I paid her $5 for a walk-on, and she passed.)

I missed the parade, I was out catching horses, then grooming and riding them! We didn’t get back til after 3, after the trail ride we decided to take the trailers out to the auxiliary pasture and bring ALL the horses and ponies in to the barn. It’s going to be VERY cold tonight!

Pics are easy (I can do them!)

First, you have to have the picture hosted somewhere on line. If it's one of your own on your computer, you can post it on shutterfly.com, snapfish.com, or one of the other FREE hosting sites.

Once you've got your pic on line, then right click on the picture - you'll get a menu list, one of which will be "properties". Click on that, then highlight and copy the unique picture address (which will probably end in ".jpg").

Then come back here, and type the following, but leave out the space between the carets and the contents . . . (I have to put in the spaces or the computer thinks it's an HTML command and it won't show on the screen).

< IMG SRC="" >

Put the address of the picture between the two quote marks. Hit 'preview', and your pic should show up. Then just hit 'post', and there it is.

You also can adjust the size of the picture by putting "height=x00" inside the final caret but outside the quote marks.

That is all there is to it!

It’s tricky. Hair has a formula printed out for us. She’ll be back in a bit.
