FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

A strange coincidence. I love mysteries. Keep journaling:’) It may have something to do with the weather. Maybe the wind is bring in scents or sounds.

Except when Cyn freaked last year it was wet and stormy, the weather here lately has been clear and cold and dry.

I’ll keep journaling, you keep thinkin’.... ;~)

It’d be nice if we could just ~ask~.

Down around my friend Bob’s house, they think there was a cat attack on a horse,

Oh that's awful. I'm glad he pulled through it!

Had a busy day. Did a whole bunch of errands. Saw to my nana, then went and bought a new bed blanket set, then went and bought new speakers because mine finally bit the dust. I had been holding the wires in with tape and praying. The new ones I bought are from logitech. Good sound, just don't care for the location of the controls. The sound dial for the subwoofer is on the back, and the sound dial for the satellite speakers are on the mp3 dock. I didn't realize that until I got the thing out of the box. Whoops.

...What is with your cousin putting her boot on the table? Resting her hip?...

Yeah, I think her hip did pretty well on the ride but started to stiffen up once we got back and were just standing around in the cold. We were all giving her grief about having her muddy boot up in everybody's face but I don't think she cared at that point. She said her knee on that side hurt her more than the hip. She's either got some arthritis in it or has stressed it trying to compensate for the damage in the hip. But I've gotta respect her for not letting it get her down. I think she's going to be riding no matter what.

Hey, would you mind telling me where you ordered the puzzle you gave me from. That is just so cool...I’m thinking it would be a good Christmas present from my Dad.

Well, it was a pretty quiet day, but tonight, out of the blue, we’re having some rather unpredicted high winds. And the thing is, none of the weather sites are saying we’re getting anything. Branches are hitting the house and we’ve moved the trucks out. We appear to be the only ones who know.

Oh boy. Perhaps it’s very localized and therefore very short lived. Hope all is well.

Seems quiet now... one little power flicker.

Here’s to hoping for a quiet night from here on out!

It was like watching someone else’s weather report on the news. No mention of wind, they’re fixated on heavy snow in the passes and the Northern part of the state. It’s not even raining here, just remarkably windy. We have more limbs down tonight than we had in the predicted storm a few weeks ago. It’s like we’re in a completely different weather pattern.

Oh and then there was an earthquake. They’ll fixate on that at 11. We’re going to bed.

Good morning.

Did you get blowed away? It’s cold here this morning but suppose to warm up nicely. Julia is coming to ride at 1. I’m planning on riding Rocky, but going to check out Harley again on the lunge line. Watching him move around his run, he looks fine.

Just a little one a 4 point earthquake up on the Peninsula... we didn’t feel it, we just saw the breaking news about it. After that, we knew they’d never get back around to where our wind came from. ;~\

Didn’t get blowed away, just had weird dreams.

Have a good ride today Becky - hope Harley’s better, but Rocky’s not a bad ride either :~)

Oh dear.

Here we go again. I think I’ll go say that whenever the horse acts up, she should give it a treat and tell it how much she loves it.

Yours is a good answer :~)

I lunged Harley, and got some video, what do you guys think:

http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb286/harleysowner/?action=view&current=100_1835.flv

http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb286/harleysowner/?action=view&current=100_1834.flv

http://s210.photobucket.com/albums/bb286/harleysowner/?action=view&current=100_1833.flv

The ground is muddy, a bit slippery, and lumpy. I think I’m still seeing a tiny bit of head bob, occasionally. But he’s just about there, IMO.

I think both your answers were very good. I may go throw in my 2 cents worth too since I’ve raised a few myself.
