This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
We have a medicated shampoo - we gave him one today, as a matter of fact. I don’t know a thing about the seaweed stuff... what’s that?
Spirulina. I tried that with Tuffy’s allergies but it didn’t work. Turned his lips green, too.
Yes, spirolina. It seemed to help Sonny with his alergies to alfalfa, barley, and several other things although it may be as his general health improved his allergies improved. We don’t give him anything now for the allergies and he eats whatever we give him with no problems.
I don’t know what Homer’s allergic to, but I’m fairly sure now it’s not food. We’ve tried ~every~ food, most lately the special Duck and Potato food that should have eliminated any of the other possible ingredients he might have been allergic to. No change. He’s just gotten more and more miserable.
I think he might be allergic to the house, the couch, our detergent, the carpet, the cats, the other dogs, I don’t know.
Tonight, he’s soooooo much better. He’s not licking, we’re not having to yell at him, he’s not moaning because we won’t let him lick. He’s just sleeping and comfortable.
Looks like you have a solution that works then. That’s good, you’ll all be happier, especially him.
It’s temporary though... he can’t stay on predisone forever... but for now it will give us a few weeks of peace.
Good morning.
Beaker: have a good ride.
Hair: if the dog can’t stay on those pills forever, what is the next option? Having the allergy tests done?
Becky
He can be put on rounds of it... he just can’t be on it constantly, I don’t think... like your shots... they may prescribe it monthly or every two months.
We had a storm come in overnight that was really a surprise. Now... I don’t remember what they did say in yesterday’s forecast, but it wasn’t a storm. Now they’re acting like they know all about it. :~)
Going to be stormy the next few days.
Oh, well maybe there is a residual effect that will keep him comfortable between rounds?
It’s windy here today, but nice and warm. I’m suppose to take a look at that horse of my friend this afternoon. I haven’t heard from her, and her plans change often, so not sure it will happen. I tried calling, but she was already gone:\

Hopefully yes, there will be some kind of curve where he’ll be comfortable awhile in between them.
The steriods are really cheap, so I want them to be workable. All the other options are really expensive.
Homer wasn’t always like this. I’d love to remember what happened to change it.
She is sure enough a pretty thing:)
Becky
And I don't even LIKE horses with white on the body!
Thanks, y’all.
Mina is stunning!
Thanks, Beaker!
I’m off to a gymnastics competition. My second to youngest daughter is competing.
ecurbh and I went to breakfast at the truck stop this morning, and found a bunch of truckers there who were trying to head to the Port of Olympia to pick up a bunch of returning military equipment from Iraq. Protests by our fringe groups have been going on all week. And I guess last night, they actually gave up and lost a round. Today... the cops were ready, and we went down there to support them.
Here's our report at post 29... Anti-war demonstrators protest military ship unloading in Olympia
Mina is just gorgeous. She sure looks taller than you described - I’m looking at the saddle fit and the bucket behind her. However tall she is, she’s sure nicely built.
