This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Heh, they have some bigass forklifts out there lemme tell ya! The one I was driving was a whole heck of a lot bigger than that. The bottom of the driver’s seat was about eye-level when I was standing on the ground beside it and I’m 5’7”. It was a diesel and could lift 30,000 lbs. And I didn’t even bump anything with it either, although sometimes I did have to back up and have another go of it when trying to get the coil lined up with the end of the pack line conveyor. There’s definitly some tricks to learning how to place a load when you can’t see where you’re going. It’s been an experience.
Yeah, it froze here for the first time last night too. I think it was about 28 when I left for work this morning. I’ve scrambling around trying to get plants sheltered somewhere too coz it’s supposed to warm back up after tomorrow. Heck, some years I’ve had ferns living on the porch until after Christmas!
You might try setting the t-posts in cinder blocks filled with concrete. That’s what we do on our place when we hit a rocky patch. It seems to work pretty well when all you need them for is holding up the wire. As long as you can get your tension at the corner posts it ought to work ok.
And yes, my horses are used to electric fence but mine looks different than yours. I’ve got that fatter white electrobraid so it might not hurt to make sure she knows where yours is if it comes down to it, and maybe tie some marker tape on it too where it goes through the woods.
Ok, good suggestions.
I do mark with flags hot wire for new horses, or new fence line.

The impatients.
And a few pictures I got Sun. of Tucker playing ball...in the last one he forgot to let go of the ball, but heck, he's got a good windup for such a little guy:) I really think he's headed for the pros:)

Oh - those are sad Morning Glories...
I agree... that kid is a riot. Born to play baseball! :~)
On the fence... the white rope stuff is cool... and more visible too...
You know me, I’d put all kinds of wire, tall as I could get it, AND maybe the alleyway too, between them. ;~) What about setting the t-posts in 5 gal buckets full of concrete?
Yeah, it is cool when you’ve know what you are looking at. I see Hair’s pictures different now too.

It was pretty while it lasted!
I’ve been out cleaning stalls... Now to shower and go to town... need hay and dog food.
The morning glories were really pretty, but now that you can see the fence it looks all clean and tidy, so each look has it’s advantages I guess. You gonna put out pansies now? I need to go get some but with all that’s been going on I haven’t had time.
That's one cool hoss! ;o)
Oh that’s really beautiful! I want to make one of those when it snows!
When we were in college we built a big snow space shuttle, standing on it’s tail as if it was on the launch pad with the big external fuel tank. Unfortunately, with the big ~ahem~ vertical tank and the shape of the tail of the shuttle, as it melted it looked more like a um.... phallis.
And then some friends came by and made it even more so while we were sleeping... ;~)
Yeah, yeah, yeah...that's what you say now! ;o)
I'd've loved to have seen the looks on people's faces when they saw it the next morning and the mad rush that went on trying to obliterate it before the neighborhood kids saw it and started asking questions. LOL!!!
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it :~)
If you google Horse Snow Sculpture and flip through a few pages of pictures you’ll see quite a few “interesting” ones. But I have yet to figure out what the heck they have to do with horses though! All I could say was “DAAAAAANG!”
Not a horse in the bunch ;~)
And none of them were ours ;~)
LOL!! Pearl likes to do that. Hopefully she won’t leave him any fleas. That might be kinda uncomfortable. ;o)
