FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

We were really white this morning, with frost. Today was beautiful, in the low 60's. My trailer was finished, so I brought it home and winterized it. Nice new holding tank and hot water heater cover.

You are getting some nice color. Leaves are mostly off here now. Seems they didnt stay long after coloring out.

Janelle really wants to show Tuffy in Heritage classes. I’ve been looking at pictures on line of some winners. The costumes look very expensive and don’t appear to bear much relationship to the pictures of museum pieces that I find on line. We are thinking about spending the winter making a costume replicating authentic Nez Perce pieces and using as much traditional materials, etc as possible. The problem I see though, is apparently judges are picking very expensive psuedo indian costumes.

Well, you know how show people are... I mean... Have you ever seen an Arabian Nomad dressed like this?

She’s a pretty and smart girl. I like her. All your energy though makes me groan! I’ve gone to Curves the last two days and every muscle I have is sore:’)

Do you like curves? I’ve heard a lot of good things about them.

Well , it’s kind of girly. The pink...well I’m not a pink house person but I can work with that. HOWEVER I won’t go back at Oprah time again. Tomorrow is kick boxing though, yeah buddy!

Major firecracker and she was calm in those videos. That first ride is gonna be a white-knuckled one.

She’s having trouble getting used to the sound of the saddle flapping around but she has gotten much, much better since I first saddled her. that day was one for the record books, I tell you.

I’m anxious to see the video - perhaps dial up here will let me sometime this weekend :) Otherwise, I’ll see it Monday.

You might be able to get them on dial up, they are very short.

While we went out to dinner last night our sorry excuse for a thieving Beagle broke into dog food bin ~again~. Don't offer him and after dinner mint... please. No matter how "wafer thin".

He came this > < close to needing to go to the vet last night... He was really hurting. We gave him some Hydrogen Peroxide to induce vomiting but it was too late... Not much in his stomach. Gave him some Mylanta, and he threw that up. He's just going to have to process it, if it kills him. All my reading indicated it wasn't bloat though, just a seriously gorged dog. We're going today to buy a crate. He just can't be trusted alone.

I was able to watch one this morning. She sure does move nice. Any idea what it is that causes her to speed up on the right (from my view) side of the corral?

He must have some memory of starving to gorge like that. Poor guy.

I’m told it’s something of a Beagle trait to eat like you may never eat again... but who knows.

It was a pretty pitiful sight last night, after we got over being just mad at him. He was just laying there moaning and whining and trying unsuccessfully to get comfortable.

The sand is deeper right there and it’s throwing her off balance.

That makes sense - I can see in the video that something there changes her gait. I can’t get over how beautiful she is.
