This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
What a sad story - I’m so glad to read that the dogs were put down.
They need to change the name of the new horse though.
Yes - Dusty is going to the handicapped lady, BamBam went to the lady that’s been out looking at her for a month or so. She did call me this evening though to tell me that BamBam was upset when Bob left and watched him and the trailer out of site, but did settle down to eat with her other mare and that she is going to be spending a lot of time with her so BamBam will get to know her
I can imagine she’s a little tired of California by now. How much longer are they stationed there?
I imagine the little boy will find his own name for the horse. Something that will fit perfectly.
About 5 more years.
Bummer. Can they afford for her to fly home for a visit when your son is at sea? That would give her a nice break. You got to go out and visit them - is that something you can do once a year or so?
Well, she sounds like a good nice new home for BamBam. I hope the Dusty and the handicapped lady does just as well.
We go out there (up there? Over there?) in December. I offered to bring her home but she has school.
Glad their place is safe.
Us too. Can you believe this was started deliberately?
I do think BamBam will do well there. And the lady is going to come and watch Bob and Janelle work horses - she seems anxious to learn. I plan on just driving by to see how BamBam is doing occassionally - just for the heck of it.
So how many does that leave you?
It’s just unbelievable that someone has so little regard for people, animals and property that they would start these fires. Has to be something really missing in their head and soul.
I understand. I drove by Bay to check on him when the endurance lady had him. So did Bob... till the lady told him not to stop by any more. Bob was always telling her Bay was too thin ;~)
He really needs a job, Janelle and I were talking today and I might be able to talk her into riding him endurance next year. I would really like to see that. She has already agreed to show Tuffy for us next year, halter and under saddle.
Well, I figure that if BamBam starts getting thin or doesn’t look happy, this lady and I will have to do some negotiating. She raises and shows dogs I guess - I can always threaten to turn her in for something. I think though that she’ll be open to suggestions (not from me but from Bob).
Well, Bay wasn’t really too thin, the lady was right... He was in fastastic condition, and not as fat as he was at Bob’s.
Remind me of the who’s who... Janelle is the DIL or the trainer who’s had Tuffy?
Janelle is a friend of ours. Her stud is Tuffy’s sire and she showed him at halter as a yearling. She has suddenly become determined - she’s lost a lot of weight and is insisting Bob teach her how to improve her seat and teach her whatever she needs to know to compete with the pros. I told her if she really wanted to do it, I’d buy the outfits she needs. We’ll see how it goes. It would be so good for her if she can - she lacks self confidence and although she excels at many things, she doesn’t see it.
