This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
We've had a couple of patrons at work that talked to aliens - one was Merlin, nice guy if odd. He was featured in one of the books on Area 51. The other guy was scary - we finally called the sheriff's department one Saturday and asked them to take him away.
It’s a bit of a drive but if you’re going to Vegas (which is worth it just for the sites) it’s not far.

Well, we usually fly into Vegas to visit ecurbh’s family, so maybe next time we’ll check it out. Are there Area 51 tourist attractions and such?
I thought he would have a funny hat ;~)
Area 51 Military Facility, Social Phenomenon and State of Mind Area 51, also known as Groom Lake, is a secret military facility about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. The number refers to a 6-by-10-mile block of land, at the center of which is a large air base the government will not discuss. The site was selected in the mid-1950s for testing of the U-2 spyplane, due to its remoteness, proximity to existing facilities and presence of a dry lake bed for landings. Groom Lake is America's traditional testing ground for "black budget" aircraft before they are publicly acknowledged. The facility and surrounding areas are also associated -- with varying levels of credibility -- with UFO and conspiracy stories. In 1989, Bob Lazar claimed on a Las Vegas television station that he had worked with alien spacecraft at Papoose Lake, south of Area 51. Since then, "Area 51" has become a popular symbol for the alleged U.S. Government UFO cover-up. [GC 8/96]
The page below is an entry point into the largest public database of information on the base and surrounding areas, assembled by the [old] Area 51 Research Center. Much about Area 51 remains a mystery, but here's what we do know.

For some reason I can't post the picture but it's at this link.

Oh I know we can’t go in there, but I thought there might be museums and gift shops out on the highway that goes by ;~)
Nope, he never wore a hat that I saw. He always wore a red shirt when I knew him. He got tangled up with a cult in So Cal and ended up starving himself to death. His body was found near the river. The cult, whatever, taught that you could live on air if you were advanced enough.
Well, that’s weird ;~\
I’m sure that in Rachel, where the Little Ale Inn is at has that type of thing - I know you can buy postcards, bumper stickers, etc. there because a girlfriend went down one week end and brought those back for me.
He tried to explain the whole premise to me one night at the library but I just thought it was a passing fancy. A friend’s husband worked for the health department at the time and was called when they found him. His body was in two pieces but they ruled out any foul play - just animals I guess and he was severly underweight for his size.
Well, if we drive down to visit ecurbh’s folks one year, we will stop by your place and maybe get arrested at Area 51. :~)
I know this is jumping off subject but I was going to post to you tonight about that 3 y/o little boy with cancer that got a wish for a little horse and 2 dogs killed it. I saw that they are replacing it with a 250 pound leopard appy. I’m waiting for pics.
Down two horses - BamBam left today, Dusty Rose leaves tomorrow morning. :(
I’d love to have you stop by here - we’ll take you for a ride in the desert. And, if you get thrown in jail at Area 51, I’ll come bail you out :)
Oh - I didn’t see that thread at all. Where does he live? I certainly hope the dogs are gone.
Oh dear. I know you’ll be a little sad to see them go. Is it the lady you talked about that is buying Dusty?
Hey - thanks!! :~D On both counts!
