This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I’m sorry to hear this Cindy. I’ve been so busy I didn’t even know about the fires till earlier this evening when my dad called and told me his wife’s daughter was having to be evacuated also.
Becky
There are big houses all around and then the really nice condos the Navy puts them in. Between is this huge hill between two hills. My DIL says scared homeless women live there. She says they get run off but come back because it's "safe" She told me she has left boxes of food and clothes before and it's picked up when she comes back. I hope they got out too. I doubt if they would trust rescuers.
MY niece is also there and the Navy evacuated her this morning too. Praying for rain.
Where did she go?
I’ll be praying for them all, that they stay safe. Being surrounded by fire is the most frightening thing I have ever experienced, having to evacuate down a road with fire burning on both sides is a real test of will, the only thing that got me down it was knowing I was driving out of the fire. The people in So Cal are experiencing hell first hand and I am so very sorry for them all.
Yes, Prayers for all of them.
I have no idea, I didn’t get that much detail.
Becky
I was just wondering if she was military too.
No, she is not military.
Becky
I’m so sorry to hear that Cindy. How awful.
There was a general fire thread yesterday that mentioned horses. Can’t find it right now. I frequent an Arabian site and this was posted there. I suspect this info is well known to locals but thought I’d post anyway.
This message was posted by Phillip Chavez on Ablackhorse.com last evening. Please pass it along to anyone who might need assistance.
For anyone else in the SD area kogo600 am has been the best source of news so far along with google maps and cal fire. There are several ranches in Temecula taking in horses, if any of you know someone looking for somewhere to leave their horses, call me (951)640-1811. That’s gonna be it for the night guys, we’re feeding around eight hundred people breakfast from the bakery tomorrow
So sorry Cindy and Becky and all who know someone affected by the fires. I sure hope they don’t lose their homes in it.
A gal from the Horse forum has evacuated her horse to a race horse breeding farm someplace out of the fire. I know the place she evacuated was a real high end barn and I am sure the owners and all those affected are just scared to death.
I guess fire fighting conditions are supposed to improve today.
Thanks for the update CJ. It’s nice to know that people are opening up their farms to take in horses in need. At least the people won’t have that added worry, on top of everything else.
BladeRider has a friend in San Diego who’s dog she’s been showing who lost her home to the fire. The dog was finished and was supposed to be going home soon, but she said she guessed she’d be keeping him for a while longer now.
Good morning.
Hoping the fires are brought under control for all the people in that area. The situation has to be a horrible stressor to have to live thru.
Very breezy here today, and in the 40’s right now...Burrrrrrrrrrrrrr...have I mentioned I hate cold weather :)
Becky
It’s gotten a good bit cooler here too, but not that cold. I think we’re supposed to hit the middle 50’s with scattered showers. It’s rained here off and on since last Thursday, so that’s been nice. Not enough to bust the drought, but definately needed.
It was rather warm for the low last night, 50 degrees or so... but it’ll be in the 30s tonight. Real changeable!
Barn tidying... kitty outhouse cleaning, laundry, and a little demudding going on today.
I think it’s esp hard on the guys. They are at sea and can’t do anything.
Chilly 70’s here. Must have heater on:’)
