This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh most definitely I will have to meet anyone driving in town to bring them the last few miles. It’s just to complicated to try and explain.
I’ve been trying to figure out what direction everyone will be coming in from so I can figure where to tell them to meet at.
2J, one afternoon, we’ll have to meet in town and we’ll ride together out here so you’ll know:)
Becky
Mapquest can’t give good directions?
I have no idea? How do you tell?
Becky
Well, go to mapquest.com and type in your address and see what it gives you. Then type in some other location and see if it gives you good directions :~)
I bet it can give you turn for turn directions all the way from my house if you wanted it to! It’s a pretty powerful tool, and you can print it.
I don’t know, I typed in my address, and an intersection in town, and I couldn’t follow those directions....but I’m not good with maps:)
Becky
Well, that might be why it’s better for you to just go to town and lead people in ;~)
Well, I went back and tried again, and this time I scrolled down far enough to see the map, instead of just the written directions. I know now why I had trouble following it. You could get here using it, but it’s a more difficult way, and I’m not sure if all the streets have signs. I’ll check the next time, but I will recommend everyone just let me meet them in town:)
Becky
It is true that it chooses what it sees as the shortest path. And sometimes that’s not the way you want to send people.
You look like you are daydreaming in the 2nd one. Not a worry in the world:’)
Wasn’t Frog due back this week?
Good morning all
Becky
Brrrrrrrrrrrrr....it’s in the 50’s here this morning, with a light breeze. Fall has definitely arrived.
Becky
Here too... 47 degrees. Going to be warm later, but the chill is in the air in the morning!
The woodcutters and the farrier are coming today. It’ll be a little busy managing that.
Our high’s for the rest of the week are in the 80’s. Perfect riding weather, as long as it doesn’t rain:). Hope it holds till Oct.
Becky
I hope too!
I’ll have a fairly complex packing task... need to bring clothes for both hot and cold! :~)
Draw arrows on the street with some sort of florescent spray paint that only the folks that are looking for them would really pay any attention to.
Like at every turn...
Heh!
We will probably know what to expect by the time you are ready to come. I remember when I came to your place, I had warm and cold clothes. I don’t think I ever wore the clothes for warm, and that was July:)
If we get the typical weather, cross fingers, I’d say you’ll feel just perfect:)
Becky
It’ll probably be very similar to what we’ll have here at home :~)
Everyone who lives out here has different ways of getting people here. Some even have stakes with their names on them and arrows pointing that they put up and take down when they need them. I’ve hung balloons of certain colors for people to watch for, but jokers will take them down, knowing what they are for. When I’ve done that, I’ve always worried some would be gone, so I spend a lot of time checking them, so it’s just as easy to just meet them in town.
If you really pay attention, it’s not all that hard, and usually after one trip you can find your way. But I realize with as long as it has been since the one time you were here, it would be easy too forget.
Becky
Nice rain last night and cooler today.
Farrier came yesterday and reset Jody and trimmed others.
The poster on this thread asked a question I’m not sure of the answer about Quietex.

Thought maybe you could help. Is a horse on that stuff safe to ride?
