Story One

RICHARDS: ‘HEAD INJURY DRUG FORCED ME TO QUIT COCAINE’ http://www.pr-inside.com/entertainment-

blog/2007/08/06/richards-head-injury-drug-forced-me/ Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:35 pm

Veteran hellraiser KEITH RICHARDS has been forced to quit cocaine, because he can’t mix it with the drug doctors have prescribed him after he fell out of a tree last year (06).

The 63-year-old Rolling Stone, a former heroin addict and longtime party animal, suffered a head injury when he slipped out of a palm tree in April 2006.

And he now has to take a drug which cannot be taken with cocaine.

Richards says, "Drugs I’m on now - the [crap] I’ve gotta take because of the brain job, Dilantin. Means you can’t take cocaine anymore. Which is fine with me. "I mean, I haven’t seen coke for, like, a year and a half. Big deal. Y’know I used to like my little bump here and there after meals. But now I can’t do that anymore, so I don’t do it no more.

"I still smoke like a *** chimney. Get me some good weed."

Story Two

RICHARDS IGNORES DOCTORS BOOZE WARNINGS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:38 pm

ROLLING STONE KEITH RICHARDS insists he’ll never stop drinking - because he has outlived a number of doctors who warned him about his constant partying.

The Brown Sugar guitarist, who was once addicted to heroin for 10 years, claims decades of hard-partying have taught him to know his limits.

He says, "They keep telling me to stop drinking, but I can’t be bothered.

"It’s like, ‘You don’t know me, I know me.’ The people who’ve told me to stop doing this and that and they’ve croaked.

"Not that I want to brag about it, but I mean, I’ve had about three doctors who told me, ‘If you carry on like this, you will be dead in six months.’ I went to their funerals."

I saw a recent article where he clarified that he didn’t mix his dead father’s ashes with cocaine and snort them; he just snorted his father’s ashes.

What's the deal with those Eddie Van Halen Frankenstein Guitars they are selling at Guitar Center?

$25,000 for a EVH guitar copy? WTF?

I did not know they were that much. Are you sure you are not talking about the 20K Clapton Blackie reissue?

Ed has amps out too; supposedly that can capture the “brown sound.” I saw a clip of him at the launch and he can still play. I always felt bad for Valerie as I had a major crush on her as a young guy. Ed, you pig.

I figure if drugs haven’t killed Keef by now, they never will.

They've certainly had their chance. I'm working on an alternate theory, that Richards actually died in 1978 and his reanimated corpse has haunted us ever since. It explains so much.

I just looked up Dilantin and Kieth must be taking it for the side effects:

hallucinations;
slurred speech or staggering walk;
a rash;
changes in vision;
agitation;
low blood pressure;
slow or irregular heartbeats;
abdominal pain, dark urine, light colored stools, or jaundice (yellow skin or eyes);
easy bruising or bleeding;
or swollen or tender gums.

I think the artist (although of a different stripe) I am most happy to know has good genes is Clint Eastwood. I have to think his mother is very near 100 by now.

Wow. So it is like Blackie. They reverse engineered his guitar down to the mismatched stuff.

I wonder what it sounds like? I pay more for amps than guitars. Most ever for a guitar was $1300.

I was in Guitar Center a month ago, sat down with an off the wall Strat and an upgraded Fender Blue's Jr (Jensen speaker, sovtek 12AX7s).

The amp sounded so good, I couldn't leave the store with it. 15W of great tone and much lighter than my Twin.

Interesting. I almost bought a Blues Jr years ago until I played and unknown amp maker’s wares here in Atlanta. Goodsell Superseventeen #39. Best amp I have.

My latest is a Lil Dawg DeLux. Clone of the 57 Fender Deluxe. Jensen Neo speaker, 6v6 tubes in power, 12ax7s in pre. The price is great if you ever need that or a champ clone.

For only $25,000 you too can play like EVH. LOL!

I guess I'll get flamed, but I never understood the attraction of VH - or Kiss either for that matter.

I used to be a VH freak when their first album came out. Then I saw them a few times and it started getting old fast.

As a guitar fan, I got tired of hearing the constant finger taps and tricks. I have to hear lots of feeling if I am going to stay interested. It's hard to hear it, but EVH claims that Eric Clapton is one of his biggest influences.

Time is a bitch.

Keith is a mess. Really dig his playing though. THE rhythmn guitar rock man. I never understood the dropping the E string bit though.
______

He plays a lot in open G tuning (DGDGBD). In that tuning the lowest string (the E string you speak of) is tuned to D. The next string (the A string) is tuned down to G.

By removing the E (now D) string, you have the root (G) as the lowest note.

Yeah I knew he tuned open alot ( I guess most times). I just rely on that string too much I guess to let it go. I could more easily drop the high E.
