The Dragonflies' Lair~Thread XXXXI
Poets of the Dragonflies' Lair | August 9, 2007 | Soaring Feather

Posted on 08/06/2007 3:44:50 AM PDT by Soaring Feather

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Just a fun note, (some of that huge stack of odd information that s piled in the corners of my mind), Catnip is also a skeeter repellent! Fact, try it yourself. The spray stuff on your clothes works quiet well as does other simple stuff.
To ward off mosquitoes, gnats, midges and other flying insects try one of these home recipes. I have 2 recipes for home made repellent that should keep mosquitoes, gnats, midges and other flying insects away from you

Recipe 1

* 4 tablespoons of baby oil
* 1 tablespoon of Dettol

Mix well together and apply to skin. Apparently the anglers in Scotland use it all the time and I suppose they should know how to keep midges away if anyone does !

Recipe 2

* 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
* 1 cup of water

Simply mix together and apply to the skin. You can also place some neat vanilla extract in a small open container where the gnats tend to congregate and this will keep them away.

You’re welcome Meg.

Oh beautiful graphic, absolutely splendid!! How did today go for you?? The critters coming around for seed?? My little birds have not come back.

I did a fair amount of work today, the manse got out of shape when I was sick.. I am trying to catch up to things now. I don’t know where the dust comes from. I did the furniture vacuuming thing today, wow it was so dusty. I do a little bit of the living room at a time and do a thorough job that way.

;o) I saw that graphic and thought of you immediately.

A little bit at a time works best for me when I need to really clean....I have been back with the heating pad a lot today..I am thrilled that I have no major yard work looming..
I can see my feeder from my bedroom as well as the guest/desktop computer room and have enjoyed watching the titmice, chickadees and cardinals feed..I can scare the squirrel off the feeder quicker at this sliding door,too..LOL

You would enjoy a sunflower seed tubefeeder I know..My daughter gave me a thistle feeder and I exchanged it for this one as I can draw a bigger variety. Wildbird Unlimited has great feeders and squirrel bells..If I didn’t have the cap above this feeder ..the squirrels would empty the tube in no time.

I do like the tube feeds, especially for Finch seed.

I had one tube feeder, naturally the squirrels ate it. ;0(
I am going to look into getting a sunflower tube feeder!!

Oh how nice you can see the feeder from your bedroom! I would love something like that. Maybe I can get my brother to work on something for me a Finch feeder hanging at the window would be so cool.

I have to get busy planting the Iris soon, you know those danged squirrels dig those up and gnaw on the root. Ooooo they make me so angry.

I get frustrated with them..Then I have a lull in the bird sightings and the squirrels are here to entertain me.

It’s sprinkling..and we need it..Good sleeping weather.

Rest well, Soaring Feather..

Good morning everyone!

Peace
by Sara Teasdale

Peace flows into me
As the tide to the pool by the shore;
It is mine forevermore,
It will not ebb like the sea.

I am the pool of blue
That worships the vivid sky;
My hopes were heaven-high,
They are all fulfilled in you.

I am the pool of gold
When sunset burns and dies --
You are my deepening skies;
Give me your stars to hold.

Summer Clouds

  Summer clouds in a summer sky
Soft and pillowy as they float by
I see a bird upon a ship,
I see it turn into a whip,
It makes a flower like a rose,
It makes a rooster as he crows.
A tiny colt is on the run,
A little kitten is having fun.
Soft as cotton in the air,
Summer clouds are everywhere.
I love to watch them when they drift
Into the many shapes as they shift.
What a peaceful, pleasant way,
To spend a quiet summer day.

Sarah Willis

Beautiful!!

GM to you Lady Jag!

Our sun has taken itself to hide
gray clouds cover yesterday’s blue skies
a humid sheet has replaced the dry
and the feel of rain fills the air.

One day fair skies followed by
two of gray a weekend of plans
we hope, not washed away!

How sweet a kiss
soft as silk and gentle
hands caress your face
and eyes speak volumes unsaid
love is a fusion
a weldment of souls
amid sweet words
and sweeter surrender
