No, no, no... He didn't deny Scripture, he defined Scripture for all us common, fallible, unwashed, unholy laypeople.

Unlike, I suppose, the people here who provide their infallible interpretation of Scripture on a daily basis.

In fact, the Church has made very few dogmatic pronouncements regarding the interpretation of Scripture, but the Church does provide the context (Tradition) within which Scripture can be validly interpreted.
