Lohan Defends Herself After Arrest
Breitbart.com ^ | 7/24/07 | Sandy Cohen

With two trips to rehab behind her and a litany of legal problems ahead, Lindsay Lohan joins a long list of young Hollywood talents who've faced high-profile battles with drugs and alcohol. Some went on to enjoy healthy careers. Others died young. Lohan, 21, was arrested early Tuesday in Santa Monica and released on bail for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence and with a suspended license, and felony cocaine possession.

"I am innocent... did not do drugs they're not mine. I was almost hit by my assistant Tarin's mom I appreciate everyone giving me my privacy," Lohan wrote in an e-mail to "Access Hollywood" host Billy Bush, the show reported on its Web site Tuesday night.

Police found cocaine in one of the actress' pockets during a pre- booking search, Sgt. Shane Talbot said. Police initially said Lohan was also being booked for investigation of transporting a narcotic but later said she was not.

Police received a 911 call from the mother of Lohan's former personal assistant, saying that Lohan was chasing her in an SUV, said Lt. Alex Padilla. The assistant had quit hours before, he said.

Authorities found Lohan and the woman in a "heated debate" in the parking lot of Santa Monica's Civic Auditorium at about 1:30 a.m.

Lohan's arrest comes as she still faces DUI allegations connected to a Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash in Beverly Hills. The actress completed more than six weeks in rehab less than two weeks ago, and had checked into a recovery clinic in January.

Lohan had worn an alcohol-monitoring ankle bracelet since her July 13 release from rehab and was tested daily to support her sobriety, her attorney, Blair Berk, said. She said Lohan had relapsed and was receiving medical care at an undisclosed location.

You should write for “Saturday Night Live.” I can see them doing a parody commercial with your theme. It would work and I think a lot of people would laugh, even though it’s probably not in the best taste (no pun intended). :O)

All this publicity will only bring her more $$$ for her next movie.

Hardly. She's gotten a reputation as unreliable and the bond companies are refusing to insure the productions. A movie a couple of weeks from shooting got cancelled for just that reason last week, and the producers are scrambling to get it set up again with a different actress. Movies aren't cheap to make and you have to pay all those technicians and grips and gaffers and craft service people who showed up for work, even if you can't shoot anything because the actress was too hung over to come to the set that day. There was an article yesterday that said she could well be forced into insuring any future productions out of her own pocket.

Plus, she's trashed her image can't plausibly play the "sweet and innocent" roles that have defined her career (Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, Herbie) anymore. She's going to be cast down into the lower levels of Hollywood freakdom as a human trainwreck and punchline in straigh-to-video hell. (See also: Gary Busey)

“Most of the OD’s choked on vomit. Hopefully their own, not someone else’s.”

But how can you really tell? I mean, you can’t really dust for vomit, now can you?

Kudos to “Spinal Tap”.

Lindsay Lohan is now much worse than Paris Hilton.

Ms Lohan is acting like a hooligan with that wild car chase on the streets of L.A.

Paris was sent to a max security prison, where you send violent offenders, for two parole violations.

Lindsay is facing felony charges among others, she is facing six months to three years in prison if and when convicted.

If Lindsay serves less time than Paris, is not Ms Hilton owed and apology by the Courts, by the ‘Scarlet Letter’ harpies on the cable TV news channels who have been slamming her for months ?

Yes, Paris Hilton is owed an apology by us all.
For decency’s sake.

The hypocrisy here is that the same people who condemned poor Paris Hilton to deserving that prison stint for the misdemeanors of driving with a suspended license, are now expressing sympathy for Ms Lohan after she was arrested for high speed car chase on the streets of L.A. and felony drug possession.

That hypocrit is none other than Bill O’Reilly!
Freepers email Bill for his double standards.
I believe his email is Oreilly@foxnews.com

Do those steps mean atheists can't quit drinking?

I think AA has probably helped a lot of people, but its little more than a Christian recruiting organization.

Ah, I think you might want to do some research before you comment. Atheists can do AA and get sober just like anyone else and while belief in a higher power can take many forms, it is not in the individual seeing as how they drank themselves to the brink.

I think step 1 is a self fulfilling prophecy. Admitting that you are powerless over something is a sure way to be so.

That's not a good way to start trying to kick something.

The 12 step program is an elongated version of accepting Christ and being saved. I am sure it has helped people, but it seems that quitting drinking is a secondary goal with the AA program.

You know what? Life isn't always fair. If you are going to judge each case on it's individual circumstances by different judges instead of having set in stone uniform sentencing, then you are going to have different sentences for the same offences.

If Lindsay serves less time than Paris, then she is lucky. Paris was guilty and she was given a sentence within the guidelines for her offence. She was perhaps, unlucky that she got the book thrown at her, but it doesn't mean that she didn't deserve what she got and someone else serving a lesser sentence doesn't change the fact that Paris was guilty. If Lindsay serves less time than Paris, it's not unfair to Paris, it's unfair to law abiding citizens.

Yeah, those people in AA have no idea what they are talking about.

I disagree. Until someone admits that they have no control over their addiction then they simply cannot beat it. It seems like a contradiction but the reality is that their addition is bigger than them and all of their attempts to control it have failed. If they had any control or power over it then their life wouldn’t be in such a bad way. Addiction and recovery from it is not an intellectual exercise.

The other aspect to AA is that quitting the booze is only the 1st half of the 1st step. The other 11.5 steps deal with the disease that has infected the person. In recovery you must face up to who and what you are and that is basically someone who is extremely self centered and spiritually lacking. What sort of person lies, steals, cheats, denies care to those dependent upon them, walks around with chronic resentments, is supremely undependable and lacks ethics? Sure, you can blame it on the booze but the individual is the one who behaved that way. Successful recovery means that you deal with your shortcomings, make amends to those you have wronged and go about your life in a better fashion. Yes, you can be a Big Book thumper but that’s a person who is vain and still being an arrogant ass and while they can try to claim righteousness they are in fact still operating from ego.

I have seen bread and butter AA groups give hard core drunks a means to be sober and live a better life. It works better than any other approach when followed properly.

I haven’t had a drink in over 18 years....

I wonder what the percentage of Hollywood types who turn inot trash, (of course many of them were trash already) ever do straighten out their lives eventually? I would bet it is like less than one percent.

I know it has happened as the girl who played on “Father knows best”, the older one, did turn into a druggie slut but eventually found religion and cleaned up her act.

AA is far from a “Christian recruiting organization” to anyone who has attended a single meeting in need of the help of others.
