RE #1. I have inside dogs. They like to run in the fenced backyard. I want to keep it fairly dry so they will not track in mud. (NorthCarolina red clay)
ok, just water the front, it’s nearly impossible to have both a beautiful lawn and dogs.... :’)
If you cannot water early AM, just try not to water during the heat of the day. Also - I’ve hear of fungus problems resulting from late evening watering.....but I’ve never actually seen it happen (I water in the late evening all the time)
ChemLawn - yes a service like that - I would ask my neighbors who they use if this is an option - (it’s actually a very good idea and usually doesn’t cost much more than the bags yo do yourself. (I just like doing it )
I loath bagging the graqss clippings, it is usally only necessary in the spring once or twice when the grass is really growing fast. - also if you have a lot of trees, look into a “leaf mulcher” they are usually inexpensive (I found mine on Craig’s List for $20) they won’t chip branches but it will reduce the leaves by about 10 to 1. All you have to do is rake into piles and drag your mulcher from pile to pile) I put this stuff on my beds it breaks down nicely over the winter.

If your neighbor really wants your grass clippings.......
Tell him to come over and cut your lawn!
LOL, a friend of mine said he had some sexy neighbors that liked to lay outside. He said that corner of his yard will probly be very well maintained this year....

We’re usually only dry in August, but this year June and July have been arid.

Prettty much any blade is a mulching blade. Unless you let it grow to the point that it clogs everything up-the mower force most of the clipping into the thatch-use natural fertilizer and it will decay on it’s own.
I miss my lawn. I really enjoyed taking care of the yard.

I never liked yardwork but it is becoming a nice hobby.
I have learned alot about it and realize that nice yards don’t happen by accident.
Besides, sitting inside watching TV is NOT an option. I gotta have something to do.
It was probably hot the day that picture was taken. I had a neighbor who used to have his wife mow the grass while he edged and trimmed the shrubs, and then he’d pick up all the trimmings.
When they were done on a summer day, he was washing himself with a hose. She came and let him spray her down. He *UN*politely put the hose in her shirt - she seldom wore a bra at that. Wet “TEE shirt” time!
Had a buddy ask me about his lawn one time. He about crapped his pants when I told him what he needed and offered to handle it for him free if got the materials.
Only so much you can do in an apartment.

If fungus was a problem here, we would be in bad shape. We get afternoon thunderboomers just about every day. Heat storms that leave as quickly as they show up.

And, you haven’t got the humidity we have, either. On the other hand, it only snows here about every 13 years.
You need to find a local lawn guy, or a landscaper, and pick his brain. If you were in FL, I could help a little- I know a bit about gardening here. But you have specific climate and species that need to be treated a certain way.
Try the nearest feed store maybe?
