Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and three other men were indicted on conspiracy charges tied to a dog-fighting operation by a federal grand jury in Richmond, Virginia, on Tuesday.
They are charged with conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities, and to sponsor a dog in an animal-fight venture, according to documents from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Virginia.
If convicted on the travel and interstate commerce portion, each faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Conviction on the animal-fighting part of the charges could bring each one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
Charged along with Vick, 27, were Purnell Peace, 35, Quanis Phillips, 28, and Tony Taylor, 34.

Thanks for the tip - interesting reading about Ron Mexico.
Let’s see how fast he can run in a prison shower
Burn in Hell Michael Vick.
From SI.com
“But not a single line in the 18-page indictment will generate more rage toward Vick and the others charged — Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor — than a sentence near the end. It reads: “In or about April of 2007, Peace, Phillips and Vick executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in ‘testing’ sessions at 1915 Moonlight Road by various methods, including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog’s body to the ground.””
One player out of over 2000 turns out to be the worst kind of no good sh!t and now suddenly you won’t watch the Superbowl (which said player has never played in, never really even gotten close to, and probably never would have played in it even if he hadn’t turned out the way he has)?! Sounds to me like you were never actually a football fan in the first place and have chosen this as a “reason”.
The entire PC establishment is working overtime to find a compromise for this that lets Vick continue to ruin a football franchise.
No tax evasion charge?
I guess they’re really not that interested in putting him away for awhile
Well that is how they finally nailed Capone.
WTF? All he has to do to be set for a life of luxury is not run afoul of the law and not p!$$ away the money.... and he can't even manage that much.
(PS -- IIRC, teams have been getting signing bonuses back from players who failed to fulfil their contracte as a result of their own criminality....)
Ironically speaking of that bafoon Sharpton (white lib’s fav mascot) he, Richard Simmons and Ingrid Newkirk of PETA shame sent Vick’s sponsors a letter condemning dog fighting and anyone connected to it. Still I bet that Vick issues an apology thru a lawyer, he gets a fine and sentenced to a sensitivity class and maybe a small suspension. Then the PC goombas go into navel gazing, that fathead Howie Long and others like him go off about racism (whatever that really is)and the issue is forgotten.
I think it’s being principled. If the NFL won’t police itself and throw out trash like Vick, they deserve losing fans.
BUMP and double BUMP!
He’s only been indicted for 24 hours now, give it some time. I have little doubt that Vick will be suspended, about the only way I can see it not happening is if the legal situation makes it unnecessary (ie if the courts absolutely refuse to allow him to travel he can’t play so the NFL doesn’t need to suspend him).
Isn't one of the main qualities of a sociopath taking part and taking pleasure in the death of animals?
I’ve pretty much lost interest in all professional sports aside from baseball. College Football takes care of my football fix, but it’s rapidly heading in the same direction as the NFL...which is rapidly heading into the same hip-hop toilet that the NBA jumped into when Michael Jordan retired.
Now that’s funny right there, I don’t care who ya are.
absolutely
