So, FReepers, what do you think? Are you changing your theories for Deathly Hallows? Do you suppose the plot changes are important and that the movies will now diverge from the books?

I think people shouldn’t be encouraging children to get involved in the occult.

Harry Potter is for sissies.

Real men will watch "Transformers".

I think the Cho instead of Marietta thing was minor. In the book, Harry breaks up with Cho later anyway, so it's a moot point. They also didn't show Harry and the Weasley kids going to St. Mungo's, where the others found out about Neville's parents. Kreacher wasn't fully 'realized' either, since Harry didn't try to contact Sirius before going to the Ministry.

Likely the locket will be introduced later, if it is important to the outcome of the series. I'm just now re-reading "Half Blood Prince", in anticipation of the new book, so I'll be paying closer attention to the whole horcrux thing.

I thought it was interesting that they went through the entire year and never even mentioned Quidditch ONCE! I enjoyed the movie, though I thought it started off rather slow. I loved Imelda Staunton as Umbridge; she displayed suitable creepy-sweetness, which morphed into downright meanness! I'm glad they brought in the centaurs later in the movie, and had them carry her off, even if they didn't follow up on the whole 'Firenze as Divination teacher' plot line.

We know that Elvis bonked each of his female co-stars in his 33 (or so) cinematic delights. Does Harry?

I saw the movie yesterday with my 11-yr old son, and my only serious criticism is that the film toned down two key scenes where, in the book, Harry’s fury and confusion and isolation come out in full force: the first one, at the house on Rimauld Street, when he lashes out at Hermione and Ron; and the second one, at the end, when he trashes Dumbledore’s office. In the film, both scenes are there (the 2nd one, sort-of, Harry and D do talk, but there is no trashing of the office), but the film really lost a lot of energy because it doesn’t show Harry in full fury.

Did you notice that when the DA class went into the Hogs Head bar (where Dumbledore’s brother Aberforth is the bartender), he kind of shooed away a goat? Aberforth was in the paper, according to Dumbledore, for ‘practicing inappropriate charms in a goat.” It was a good extra little touch.

And I just thought of one other really funny “mistake” in the movie...

In the beginning when Harry is walking through the field, before the dementor attack, there is a voice over talking about the weather, in Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Yet when Petunia is watching TV, they show Celsius readings...

Haven’t finished the whole thread so I don’t know if it has been mentioned or not...

RE KREACHER’S IMPORTANCE:

This for anyone who has forgotten or not
read the books thoroughly:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kreacher

PROBABLY the reason JKR said Kreacher is
to be important in the final book, too.

Another question to all. In the HBP, while Harry is trying to get into the Room of Requirement, all of a sudden, he meets Tonks in the hallway. She seems to be thin, ashen, and asks him if he has heard anything from the Order members. Harry tells her no, and she leaves. She was apparently there trying to meet with Dumbledor.

This meeting always seemed strange to me. Perhaps it is Crab or Goyle using Polyjuice potion brewed to look like Tonks. If Draco's henchmen can make themselves appear to be Order members, it would be easy for them to infiltrate the Order.

Any thoughts on that? Thanks!

Did anyone read ( spoiler/hacker ) Gabriel’s message about the ending? I won’t say what happen but it was interesting if it’s true.
