An injured hawk owes its life to a man in Connecticut. Nick Skoloski spotted this injured red tailed hawk on the side of a busy road on Friday. He pulled over to help the grounded bird, running across the highway and stopping traffic to do it! Doctors at the Suffield Veterinarian Hospital said they would do what they could to mend the bird's wing and get it back into the air as soon as possible
Good news!
There is a great place called The Raptor’s Trust in NJ that cares for Raptors when they are injured, even if they can never fly again. It’s open to the public and they have Eagles, Falcons, Hawks, Owls there, etc. Hope they know about it.
Good for him. I found a very large turtle this week that had been washed down from who knows where(lots of rain/flooding in these parts recently) and was crossing a busy street in Addison, TX. This guy was about the size of my steering wheel...anyway I stopped my vehicle and picked him up and drove back home to Arlington and released him to a lake.
And good for you. I would do the same thing!
“very large turtle”
Would you have done that if it had been a snapping turtle?
Being a guy, I'd be grateful to lose only a finger. After all, I would still have nine more of those.
I know how he felt, seeing an injured bird. I remember driving on a 4 lane highway when a mama duck and seven little ducklings just jumped off the curb, and started accross the street, heading for a lake on the other side. There were five of us in the car, and we all jumped out and covered all the lanes with our arms outspread, until mama and kids got accross safely. Good feeling.
