back around 1970 my father flew back from business in Europe with only two other passengers in First Class. One was Ava Gardner and the other was Richard Chamberlain.

Chamberlain was rude to both my father and Ava Gardner. My father and Ms Gardner got along well and spent several hours discussing a script she was considering for a cameo in a Paul Newman movie, The Life And Times of Judge Roy Bean. From the time I learned that story I haven’t liked Chamberlain (though I liked Shogun).

Finding out he was gay several years ago explained a lot. If he hated himself so much, as this article explains, then it’s no surprise that he was a miserable putz to others.

Should we forgive Ava for aborting her child with Frank Sinatra (aka “Ava’s Gardner”).
