The Dragonflies' Lair ~ Thread XXXX~
Soaring Feather and poets of the Lair | July 6, 2007 | Soaring Feather

My Dragonfly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Good morning everyone.

English Country Garden~Click
How many kinds of sweet flowers grow
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Daffodils, heart's ease and flox
Meadowsweet and lady smocks
Gentain, lupine and tall hollihocks
Roses, foxgloves, snowdrops, blue forget-me-nots
In an English country garden.

How many insects come here and go
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Fireflies, moths, gnats and bees
Spiders climbing in the trees
Butterflies drift in the gentle breeze
Their are snakes, ants that sting
And other creeping things
In an English country garden.

How many songbirds fly to and fro
In an English country garden?
We'll tell you now of some that we know
Those we miss you'll surely pardon
Bobolink, cuckoo and quail
Tanager and cardinal
Bluebird, lark, thrush and nightingale
There is joy in the spring
When the birds begin to sing
In an English country garden.

Repeat first verse

Good morning Soaring,

That sure is a gosh darn lovely house! I’d like to live in that bad boy, way out in the countryside!

Hello starbase, so nice to see you!

It is a lovely home thatched roof and all. You buy the house, we’ll come to visit, Chef Tude will whip up the meals, and we can write some grand poetry in the garden, LOL, how does that sound?

How goes it for you?? Summer slipping away all too rapidly?

Well summer here is about six really hot months long, so it won't slip away until late October, then the temps are much more comfortable.

Luckily we have air conditioning until then. ;-)

Well I'm finally all plugged up with my own laptop and home Internet connection! Whew! Really it just feels like a return to normalcy, but what normalcy it is, my own music, my own bookmarks, all in the comfort of my own home.

And now I can finally get cracking on those professional goals, and so return to the US and a comfortable living again.

Amusingly, they updated the certifications this month anyway, so even if I had gotten those other ones I started, they would have soon been outdated anyway.

And the funniest kicker is, all the software is free for download now! You just can't release professional work with it (have to buy a license), but otherwise I can now really lay into the new credentials.

I'm almost 100% certain I will be ready to return to a comfortable, quiet office job when this contract is finished (in just 8 more months, can you believe 4 months have gone by since I was home writing "Silver Spoons"??!!)

Four months, seems like the blink of an eye!

Oh this is great great news, so happy for you!
"There's no place like home," Dorothy, Wizard of OZ!!

It has been really great weather here in my area, not that much depressing hot temps and horrible humidity. Lots of rain which on some days is a little disappointing, but got to have rain. :-)

Amazing how fast time flits away one day at a time.
We've all enjoyed your "off The Beaten Path Tours" and look forward to more of them. Of course, your busy working now so fun and travel come later.

It is amazing how fast things move these days, you may have had some inclination about this and where not aware of it, now things are made easier for you-all without your permission. ;-) Karma??

Just being able to lounge around your own flat with the comforts of home are worth a bucket of stars, make a cup of tea, not hurry up and get your on line business done cause someone else is waiting for the computer. WOW what freedom you have now.
GRRRRRREATTTT!

Yes, it's fun to feel like I'm "back in action" again! I'm amazed at how powerful these laptops are these days. I got one of the cheaper ones, but the screen is so bright and clear, and there's plenty of power to run all the software I need.

Good thing we're all so tech savy these days! ;-)

I'll probably drop by a lot less frequently, as most of my time and creative "brain juice" will be now getting used up writing software programs. That is one thing I've found interesting in my time in the Lair, that I enjoy writing pieces so well, but I never did before I came to the Lair.

And it occurred to me that writing software has a lot of the same characteristics as writing poems, especially for me, as all my poems tend to be balanced and structured, a lot like software. So I guess most of my "muse" energy will now go back to software.

However, when I do come by the Lair I'll try to always bring a new piece with me (be it ever so modest!).

I think as a personal project I'll start working on something for the big 4 year anniversary of the Lair coming up next month. Hmm, I must put together something special, what can it be?

Awww, this makes my heart sing. I can tell you honestly there were so many times I thought The Lair would go down into the memory hole, I just held on with lots of support from folks behind the scenes encouraging me to hold on. To them I am so grateful for their support, to the poets and posters who come for fun and end up writing poetry, and for the lurkers who come in and go in silence, thank you. Four years is a good long stretch, The Lair is a great love of my heart.
Okay, we will be looking forward to your special poem for The Lair's Fourth Anniversary.

Oh perfect, with a Blue Bird house, too.

We had 3 thunderstorms yesterday, the last in the night. Temps are moderate today, bright sun shining, absolutely perfect.

Thanks for the lovely flowers, enjoy your wonderful day.

English Garden.

My love for an English garden,

It knows no bounds.

I will never have to ask for pardon,

As I stroll these lovely grounds.

Many are the shrubs, bushes and flowers,

They fill my heart with joy.

Here I have spent many happy hours,

For most of the flowers are shy and very coy.

Hollyhocks abound in every colour and hue,

Great delight I find in every nook and cranny.

A few of the flowers are for me new.

Most of the names I was taught by my dear Granny.

I have wandered around gardens of all kinds,

In most parts of this wonderful Earth.

There is something in a garden that my soul binds,

Nature shares with me every new birth.

But in an English garden such as Kew.

Gardeners put on a wonderful show.

That refreshes me through and through,

As I am sure it will you if you take the trouble to go.

Good day Lady Jag! Wonderful poem and picture.

Are you rested from your little trip??

I have been talking to my brother in MO, we are digging up family history, such fun things to learn about our ancestors.
