The Dragonflies' Lair ~ Thread XXXX~
Soaring Feather and poets of the Lair | July 6, 2007 | Soaring Feather

My Dragonfly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

No yet. LOL. The sun is not up yet. Smart of it to get a few extra winks. Temps are 58 and humidity is low. This is overcoat weather for a lot of people here.

Our temps did not go into the 50s last night. We are having a warm up spell. Those 50 night temps make for great sleeping.

I sleep with the window open most nights. Calli of course loves to look out. She has a perch set up by the window. I would love to go back to bed but I have too many things to do at work today.

I was unfamiliar with Lobelia until I lived in California for a few years..I used it in pots of geraniums. It likes cooler summers than we normally have in Texas.

Curious Calli catches the breeze
while dreaming of birds drifting at ease
she plans her attack, but is left in disgust
the scream stops her siege and thwarts her thrust.

The very dark blue of Lobelia goes so well with red, red Geraniums. Wish I had a nice patio. ;)

Very good. I know that Calli gets frustrated. She will sit in the window and try to hypnotize the birds with some sort of cackling sound.

Oh yes, cats have a very definite vocabulary for communicating their thoughts. My cat was a chirper, he had a special chirp for me, one for the nasty cats that hung around the open windows, and one for birds he watched.

~Good Morning Everyone~

Celia Thaxter's Garden, Isle Of Shoals by Childe Hassam

IMPRISONED~ by: Celia Thaxter (1835-1894)

Lightly she lifts the large, pure, luminous shell,
Poises it in her strong and shapely hand.
“Listen,” she says, “it has a tale to tell,
Spoken in language you may understand.”

Smiling, she holds it at my dreaming ear:
The old, delicious murmur of the sea
Steals like enchantment through me, and I hear
Voices like echoes of eternity.

She stirs it softly. Lo, another speech!
In one of its dim chambers, shut from sight,
Is sealed the water that has kissed the beach
Where the far Indian Ocean leaps in light.

Those laughing ripples, hidden evermore
In utter darkness, plaintively repeat
Their lapsing on the glowing tropic shore
In melancholy whispers low and sweet.

O prisoned wave that may not see the sun!
O voice that never may he comforted!
You cannot break the web that fate has spun;
Out of your world are light and gladness fled.

The red dawn nevermore shall tremble far
Across the leagues of radiant brine to you
You shall not sing to greet the evening star,
Nor dance exulting under heaven’s clear blue.

Inexorably woven is the weft
That shrouds from you all joy but memory;
Only this tender, low lament is left
Of all the sumptuous splendor of the sea.

Oh I do, I do!!!

The poetry is really divine.

Perhaps I will find inspiration today to write something, I have been up against the wall of late.
