The Dragonflies' Lair ~ Thread XXXX~
Soaring Feather and poets of the Lair | July 6, 2007 | Soaring Feather

My Dragonfly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Counterpoint to Reality

From reedy fen to shadowed glen,
the timeless winds of change
sift the assembled fates of all,
and dull life kind rambles on
unaware of the mystic dawn
hearing not the whispered call
within their all too human range
so poets scribe it with their pens

Magic is unexplained but still so real
and oft accepted as a right it seems
missing the wonder all about
and so losing a gift most dear
reality sunders imagination I fear
and man’s imaginings takes rout
oh sad to lose the magic of dreams
a mind with science a soul can’t heal

If you please, would you kindly tell me how a Dutchman gets lost? Easy, My personal recipe for getting lost... Step 1) Take One Beer. Step 2) Repeat Step One As Necessary.

I found as an old sailor that getting lost was usually the result of waking up after trying the beer routine someplace you neither recognize, nor speak the language!

Trust me on this one Lady Jag, Lost Dutchman has the lost thing down to a science then.

;^)

Getting Lost

Sometimes the world's a haze to me
what's wrong is right, what's right is wrong
nights take on ghostly shapes that linger till dawn
those are the times my sea house calls to me.

Lost out there in the sea, my bungalow whispers softly to me
come home, come home, sit with me,
we'll listen to the howling sea, on stormy nights when she rages high
we'll hold on tight you and I
she'll rant away the night's dark sky
we think we are going to die at sea in a watery grave
home to many a brave sailor of the seas.

The storm calms, her waves ebb in low tide
dawn offers promise of sun and calm seas
where nightmares neer rear their head
our gut is quiet, with steady hand
we reach out for the promise of morning
in our sea house, standing strong.

GM to you NYA! Thank You!

I was inspired by WayzataJohnn’s poem, and why the Lost Dutchman got lost.

Gloomy day in the Northeast, looks as though the sky will open up and minute and pour down pitchforks and blue bunnies.

pour down pitchforks and blue bunnies.

I have not heard it put that way before. The sun is shining and the current temp is 65 degrees. Humidity is low.

Well, this weekend is the big deal in Las Vegas,
poets milling all about,
young and elderly gather there
competition is thick in the air.

This time last year I was there
and was invited to attend
registration free this year
alas, I’ll wait another year
and mop the decks when I get there

a grand winner I propose
does ego play a part
you bet your bottom dollar
if you’re smart. LOL

Channel Masters Lighthouse

  We glow in the undercast,
Our reflections fleeting
In mirrored walls as we dance.
The music is reminiscent of yesterday,
As we recall when time was,
Climbing the 'Stairway To Heaven'
With the O'Jays..
No generation gap here,
The Lighthouse,
Where old friends meet and
New acquaintances greet.
We share a mellow, special time
Of candlelight on red table cloths.
We toast today and tomorrow,
Stiring us to tears as our glasses
Clink a melody...

I must return again!
I was happy there!
Come with me!
Leave your cares behind.
The Lighthouse...
A welcoming beacon
In the city wilderness.
