CLEVELAND -- A neighbor apparently angry about noisy fireworks shot three people to death early Thursday and wounded two others, police said.

Terrance Hough Jr., a 35-year-old off-duty firefighter, was arrested in connection with the shootings near his home shortly after midnight

The shooter was apparently upset about loud noise from fireworks at a house next door and opened fire, killing two men and a woman, all in their early- to mid-20s, Stacho said. He said another man was shot in the elbow and a woman was wounded in the hand.

Well - it was the Fourth of July.

I would think that it would make a person feel rather silly calling the police on July 4 to make a complaint against fireworks. Sheesh.

"Why do people think it is ok to set off explosives in a residential neighborhood in the middle of the night???"

On a weeknight especially. We have a lovely family of white trash living across the road from us. Mom is useless. No dad. Teenaged kids run amok at all hours, often leaving beer bottles and other assorted trash on other peoples' lawns. Not to mention that someone in that house has a penchant for destroying other peoples' mail boxes. In any case, I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to allow my good friend Mr. Mossberg handle the situation. Thank God I have a very long fuse.

It was after midnight, the guy has 3 children and he had asked them to stop repeatedly prior to losing it and shooting them up.

There is more to the story than what has been published so far.

What he did was terrible, but frankly, there is no respect for anyone these days, the love of most has grown cold. The youth of this country are haughty and callous and lovers of evil.

John Adams wrote that the Fourth of July “...ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other...”

There was a big show at 12:30AM where I am, even though it was calm the couple of hours before that. It’s not good for people who actually have to get up early and be productive the next day.

John Adams didn’t punch a timeclock the next day either.

Goood point though.

We had two groups in our neighborhood with some serious sky candy. They started at dusk and went steady till around 10.

My old dog, Emma, freaks at the sound and we have to sedate her on the 4th.

After 10, I kept trying to get her outside to pee. Every time I stuck my head out the door, the neighbors would seem to find another 8 or 10 booming rockets to launch.

I didn’t consider shooting them, though it was tempting. I was ready to call the cops at 11:00, but thankfully they either ran out or came to their senses.

It was the 4th of July, for cryin' out loud. Any other night, sure, call the cops. But on the 4th?

You guys would probably call the cops on Christmas Eve as the bells rang for midnight mass.

I had two major firework events within 5 miles that I could watch & hear out my 2nd story window.

Those events were 9:30 to 10:00pm

The kids next door knocked off around 10:30-11:00.

At least we are soaked by rain and wasn't too worried about rockets on my roof.

Most don’t have to get up and go to work on Christmas Day.
