I hear nothing...
Depression forming, women and children hardest hit.
There is a time and place for everything. We are not in a foxhole or a mens only truckers lounge.
I just asked to have your #11 post pulled. REMEMBER, there are still a few ladies on this website who do not wish to read the garbage that excites you.
Well, considering that it was about Al Gore, I thought it was funny.
;^)
Sounds like the raw materials for a party- hurricane or not!
Neither of my daughters are Gore fans either but they tend to stay away from websites that refuse to keep the text suitable for ladies.
If JR doesn’t want their contributions I’m sure they won’t mind.
You know the one that I especially resent?? p_ _ _ y
See what you can do about that one. Because it’s used all the time, and no one ever says a word.
Cloudy and a light rain in NE Florida today. I bought ten sheets of ply last weekend for the windows in my new house.
I didn't catch #11, but I have pieced it together by looking at a couple of the other posts as well as the perp's FR homepage, which is quite revealing. He's an obvious dipstick (catch his term for conservatives).
I concur that the language used (assume it was the p - y word which offended) on FR should be suitable for the ladies. I think we should be able to do that by means of good sense, yet tolerating the occasional good faith lapse (to which any of us may occasionally fall prey), while managing to avoid turning FR into a Tea Room. Context is always important, but gutter language should never be used.
I have never been called that. Why don’t you object to the language used on FR? If it offends you, fight back!

You have mail—don’t want to hijack the thread.
Are you building your own house?
I didn’t see the post, but if you got that hot about it, I’m sure you called it correctly.
Are you going cut the wood to fit your windows and install hangers?
Back in the mid sixties when I lived down that way, my dad had hangers on the house. I only know of the old style plywood window protector “hangers”. They screwed into the framing above the window and the plywood hung from them. The ones I recall used small 1” screws to fasten to the house. Better than nothing but not sufficently strong enough to impress me. I don’t recall how the bottoms were held in place.
Nope, we just bought one. This section of FL hasn’t been hit in living memory, and there is a local attitude that something about the incurve of the coast up here forms some kind of natural protection from hurricanes. Anyway, I’m cutting plywood sheets to overlap all the windows and doors. If one is coming, I’ll just screw them down. Better than waiting in line at home deport, while the plywood is sold out in front of you.
Planning ahead is the way to go!
Happy Independence Day! We ain’t licked yet!!!!
Yeah, it’s good going into the holdiday with a win on the board over amnesty.
In all candor, we really DO have a reason to celebrate.
Americans stood up for our country, it’s language and culture. I didn’t know we still had it in us, and I am pleasantly surprised. This makes this 4th extra special!!
Now the “political class” has been sent a message...................”We don’t work for you, you work for us, at our sufferance”
That’s where the hangers are a great idea. No need for a ladder. Slide the sheet of wood up the window frame until it grabs the top hangers and then screw down the bottom. I would imagine you could complete a window in less than three or four minutes.
You could make your own hangers by bending a piece of metal into a Z (slide the bottom to the right until the center is vertical). Then cut them into 2” long pieces, one for each upper corner.
Two long screws through the top piece of the Z, into the window header (which are normally 4x12’s). That would leave a L (turn it sideways with the short piece pointing down) sticking out for the plywood to slip under.
Put the plywood into the L and screw down the bottom.
If you have a double front door, I would cover it also.
