But last week came an astonishing new twist to the Roswell mystery - which casts new light on the incident and raises the possibility that we have, indeed, been visited by aliens.
Lieutenant Walter Haut was the public relations officer at the base in 1947, and was the man who issued the original and subsequent press releases after the crash on the orders of the base commander, Colonel William Blanchard.
Haut died last year, but left a sworn affidavit to be opened only after his death.
Last week, the text was released and asserts that the weather balloon claim was a cover story, and that the real object had been recovered by the military and stored in a hangar. He described seeing not just the craft, but alien bodies.
He wasn't the first Roswell witness to talk about bodies. Local undertaker Glenn Dennis had long claimed that he was contacted by authorities at Roswell shortly after the crash and asked to provide a number of child-sized coffins.

"Nothing to see here. Move along."
Go for it, sport...
If it is there the next morning I will call Fox News and then we can all believe.
Great. Just what we need.....more “undocumented” aliens.
“one mans opinion is another mans wife”
I’m not sure - but if you read it quick its funny!
At first I thought he was talking about MY wife, which is where I get all of MY opinions from.
“Yes dear, no dear....”
Sounds like pretty clear thinking to me, while all else is whatchamacallit, oh yeah, - speculation.
Everytime the US comes up with a new aircraft, the number of UFO sightings increases. It happened with the Nighthawk stealth fighter.
We have a group of whackos in Gulf Breeze, FL, about 20 minutes from Pensacola, that (honest to God) don tinfoil hats and go to the beach at night to watch for UFO’s. Our newspaper, known not so affectionately as the Mullet Wrapper, has had several interviews with these people. They all look like David Byrne from the Talking Heads and sound like Art Bell on a bad acid trip.
A second U.S. Air Force report, The Roswell Report: Case Closed, was published in 1997 and focused on allegations that alien bodies were recovered. It concluded that any claims that weren't entirely fraudulent were generated by people having seen crash test dummies that were dropped from balloons from high altitude as part of Project High Dive - a study aimed at developing safe procedures for pilots or astronauts having to jump from extreme altitudes.
nice piece.....wouldn’t surprize mew at all....
Just in time for the replays of “Independence Day”
There are some government secrets we are better off not knowing about. For whatever reasons.
I have a hard time believing there was any coverup at Roswell. It’s been 50 years. Some reliable journalist would have uncovered it by now, and it would be top story on all the news outlets, regardless of their political leanings.
people might say I’m crazy for believing in aliens, but I do. I live next to a family of them.
Just look at this thread for examples. They use ridicule and a distortion of the facts to heap unfair criticisms on the witnesses.
I'm not saying that we should swallow every story whole, but you have to give some sightings credence based on the facts and the status of the witnesses.
People who drove out to investigate found the National Guard had set up roadblocks and no one could get near.
A policeman friend told me that he was also assigned ‘guard’ duty = and as the NG kept the public out, they also had bulldozers plowing over the field, after having Geiger counted and otherwise examined a round, ‘burned’ circle...
Myself, I hope to he*l there’s more intelligent life, keeping an eye out for the Universe, than lives here on earth. (Think Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein, .... the list goes on)
I am referring to ET...you know, Extra Terrestrial?
I am not talking about terrestrial nuts.
After hearing what one of the base officers son had to say on C2CAM a few nights back, I am beginning to change my mind about Roswell being tinfoil hat stuff. This guy is 71 years old but has been serving in Iraq as a flight surgeon. His dad was the guy who brought some crash site articles home to show him and his mom. I think he said that his dad also left a death bed confession. This article could be about his dad as I dont recall what his name was/is.
I saw some aliens the other day. When I talked to them, I expected them to say “Take me to your leader.” What they actually said was “Como estas?”
Every day for 50 years some journalist has written about it.
