Sounds like you were having an enjoyable trip.
I love road trips. People yammer about flying here, and there; I’d rather take ten days off and drive the round trip. There are just too many things to see in between those airports that aren’t visible from 40,000 feet.
It was enjoyable, though I wish it hadn't been bracketed by deadlines, and driving through Western Oregon with grass allergies this time of year is not a good thing. But we saw many unsuspected camping opportunities, both structured (commercial/state) and unsupported (just drive off into the woods somewhere with everything, including water, for the weekend) as we crossed the Cascades yesterday evening.
Given the long distances to almost everything here in the West I'm not giving up flying, but for some things driving is still best.
