That scene in the movie “Airplane!” where the passengers are lined up to beat the hysterical passenger comes to mind.
Yeah, what ever happened with giving the child, “The Look”. This always worked with my parents and many more I’ve known. P.S. They also spanked their children on rare occasions. There was no imprint left in the flesh, but it must have in the mind.
They just gave this kid way too much power.
Philadelphia police said they won't file any local charges. Later, the FBI said it wouldn't be filing any charges either. After a thorough investigation, officials say, the incident was determined very minor in nature and no harm was intended.
Yup. For the parents.
********
Just send them the bill via a demand letter:
Fuel, lodging for pax & crew...
Loss of use of the equipment/disruption of schedule...
Other relief and remuneration as might be equitable....
A little highly publicized "cha-chinngg" might encourage parents to take responsibility for the conduct, behavior, and disclpine (as needed) of the noisy/unruly tantrum.

Man Angry Over Apple Juice Forces Plane to Land in Philadelphia
by KYW’s Al Novack
A man allegedly upset over a long wait for apple juice caused a flight headed to North Carolina to be diverted to Philadelphia.
Officials say the man became irate and used profanity aboard a Delta flight from LaGuardia airport in New York to Greensboro, NC on Tuesday afternoon around 5pm.
The flight was diverted to Philadelphia, where it was determined that the man had become upset over a lengthy wait for some apple juice he had ordered.
Philadelphia police said they won’t file any local charges. Later, the FBI said it wouldn’t be filing any charges either.
After a thorough investigation, officials say, the incident was determined very minor in nature and no harm was intended.
Fifty-two passengers spent much of the night at the airport until they could be placed on other flights to North Carolina.
The kid must have stormed the cockpit.
yes!!
Which well known liberal was it I wonder?
LOL, great comment.
So do window emergency exits and small parachutes.
I guess we'll find out when he sues the airline for making him late to whereever he was going.
And if they had parented as necessary, ie, spanking when the child showed selfish, willful, disrespectful, disobedient behavior, they also would have had charges brought against them.
"The Look" only works when there's an anticipation of consequences (perhaps painful ones) for noncompliance. Without some level of credibility behind it, "The Look" is useless.
when a child is able to throw a tantrum in utter disrespect of an adult ...to the point that it disrupts a flight...the parents should be held accountable. I have four kids ranging in ages 28-7...grandchildren...and have had other troubled teens live with me during their most turbulent years(they all turned out great..one served two tours of duty in Iraq volunteering to go back for his second tour and is a very proud and able man now)....it gets down to expecting respect...i can only imagine how that kid runs the household...that it was able to happen is unacceptable and intolerable.
