Official: Wrestler Strangled Wife, Smothered Son, Hanged Self

Professional wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his 7-year-old son before hanging himself in his weight room, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Police have scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference on the case.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Steroid abuse has been linked to depression, paranoia, and aggressive behavior or angry outbursts known as "roid rage."

"We don't know yet. That's one of the things we'll be looking at," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard. He said test results may not be back for weeks.

This is typical in divorces and does not constitute a “History of Domestic Violence”.

He strangled the life out of a woman with his bare hands and smothered his own child.

I sincerely doubt this worthless, disgusting lowlife scumbag never laid a finger on his wife before this.

The link in that post clearly stated that the wife said it was threats that prompted the 2004 restraining order, there was no history of physical abuse on record as was implied in the title of the article at the link, therefore it is sensationalism. I further said that was common in divorce for these types of charges to be thrown around and that is a sad, but true fact.

Yes he is a monster for what he did, but let's stick to facts, not tabloid journalism.

I also don’t get the whole murder-suicide thing, but then again a person who is already mentally unstable and suicidal toward themselves, is obviously not thinking in a rational manner. Perhaps he murdered his wife and child in some sort of act of rage and then felt suicidal after realizing what he had done. But no one may ever really know what happened, but from what I read this guy already had some domestic abuse and “anger issues”.

As far as steroids, I’m no expert but from what I’ve read and heard, supposedly the “moderate” and controlled use of metabolic steroids alone will not send a normally, well adjusted person into a sudden murderous rage.

I don’t know if that’s true but I understand a man who is normally way over aggressive and angry (Type A++) and perhaps already has an over abundance of natural testosterone, and takes a lot of artificial steroids; it is like a fused bomb waiting to go off.

But human hormones are amazing and powerful substances. Many years ago, I went through infertility treatments and was given hormone injections.

One day the husband came home and I very calmly told him, “I want to break something. I’d really like to destroy something or “kill” something, like a mouse or a small animal” and I really wanted to. I didn’t know where that came from and it really scared me (and him too) and it wasn’t like me at all. All I can say was that I felt very, very angry but I had no reason to and I couldn’t explain why I felt that way I did. It was like the worst case of PMS anyone could imagine.

I called my infertility doctor the next day and he very “casually” brushed me off saying it was just a “normal side effect” of the injections.

Needless to say I didn’t find the experience very “normal” at all and I soon stopped seeing him.

I figured if hormone injections would so send me over the edge, perhaps I really wasn’t Motherhood material. But I am today a really excellent Aunt.

Wasn’t she, herself, a professional wrestler?

I would think she could have put up a pretty good fight.

These wrastlers are taking so many steroid cocktails nobody knows what is going to happen. They are walking chemical and hormone timebombs. Bound to happen eventually.

Pray for W and Our Troops

There is no such thing as “roid rage.” There are asshats who get very big using steroids, feel invincible, and thus do more damage.

You are exactly correct.

I would guess booze had far more to do with this than 'roids

The news channels have been showing a picture of his wife; just utterly “gutted” seeing it and the Roids I’ve got to think, would make someone flip out and be some part of the cause as well as the possibility of other drugs, prescription and other being involved.

Maybe the news is playing the steroids issue but why not, the whole heinous incident probably would not have happened if not for this substance. Too bad she didn’t leave him for good.

If these guys are on steroids, I wonder if their love making abilities are severely stymied!

What you describe is exactly what happened to me in the six weeks that I took birth control pills. This was in the early 80’s and I have never felt so out of control in my life.

I often wonder about this when I see the young girls of today doing the most bizarre things. I also just love the fact that sickly looking vegan womyn are all on the pills.
I can’t think of anything more unnatural.
