Professional wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his 7-year-old son before hanging himself in his weight room, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Police have scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference on the case.

Authorities also said they are investigating whether steroids may have been a factor in the deaths of Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son who were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide.

Steroid abuse has been linked to depression, paranoia, and aggressive behavior or angry outbursts known as "roid rage."

"We don't know yet. That's one of the things we'll be looking at," said Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard. He said test results may not be back for weeks.

Pure sensationalism. She filed for divorce in 2004 and got a restraining order, claiming threats, then requested to have them dismissed. This is typical in divorces and does not constitute a “History of Domestic Violence”.

I believe in roid rage—stand next to a LAPD officer when he’s all hyped up.

“Roids, man, it’s the roids.”

My first thought, too.

Hubby and I both agree with your comments. He was wondering why so many people lately are doing this. Steroids may be to blame in this particular case, but it seems this is happening more and more.

The guys just lost it.

I think it would take something Satanic to make someone do something like this. I honestly believe Satan gets ahold of people somehow.

Roids became the boogeyman when: (1) the media decided in the 1980s that all things masculine were evil and (2) stupid kids used roids (which did them absolutely no good because under-18 year old kid is a walking steroid).

Steroids are of use to post-22ish year olds because it keeps their body in that teenage puberity, muscle-building, state.

(And no, I have never used steroids. I am an avid powerlifter, however, so it is around all the time.)

I know many people who have used steroids.

The assholes were assholes before they used steroids.

That said, they do act more confident and sure. BUT they are generally doing a better job.

AND they DO have boughts of depression as they go OFF steroids, largely because their bodies are flooded with estrogen as their confused endocrine system kicks back on. (This is why, Jean Claude Van Damn, for example, had gynomastia or “bitch tits” (aka “man boobs”).

Ok lets start with this:

“Steroids are of use to post-22ish year olds because it keeps their body in that teenage puberity”

And are teenagers more or less prone to mood swings than a stable adult?

“I think it would take something Satanic to make someone do something like this. I honestly believe Satan gets ahold of people somehow.”

Now, this, I believe.

A narcissist (think also Craig Titus, a sometime bodybuilder and his wife who burned up his “old flame” in her car) like this guy is “of the world.”

They are all about gratification in this world, material, and, most of all, physical (sex).

Hence why they are bodybuilders (which is really what wrestlers are). It’s all about the physical.

That’s easy prey.

The mood swings of teenagers have many reasons.

To the extent they are hormonal, they are from fluxuations.

And, s noted above, the GOING OFF steroids is a massive flux, and does cause depression, both chemical and because they shrink (which is an emotional blow).

There never has been a howing, however, that a higher serum level of testosterone causes an increase in rage or violence.

It is the fellow travelers that do that (e.g., meth -— or just being an asshole who will break the law to get bigger).

These people are so vain that they believe others would be better off dead than to “be forced to live without them.”

Good grief! Maybe these self-absorbed (self-edited) should let their potential victims choose for themselves.

That anyone can do that to their own child under any circumstances is just beyond belief to me. I am just too sickened to even know what to say.

The imminent release of the latest Harry Potter film is clearly the cause because Harry Potter is the DEVIL.

>>Investigators also found prescription anabolic steroids in the house, Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department. He would not comment on Benoit’s state of mind or possible motive.

Autopsies showed all three died of asphyxiation, Pope said.

Benoit’s wife, Nancy, was killed Friday in an upstairs family room, her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard said.

The son, Daniel, was likely killed late Saturday or early Sunday, the body found in his bed, Ballard said.

Benoit apparently killed himself several hours and as long as a day later, Ballard said. His body was found in a downstairs weight room, his body found hanging from the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment.

The prosecutor said he found it “bizarre” that the WWE wrestling star spread out the killings over a long weekend and appeared to remain in the house for up to a day with the bodies.

“I’m baffled about why anybody would kill a 7-year-old,” Ballard said. “I don’t think we’ll ever be able wrap our head around that.”
