We are still awaiting further details, but PWInsider.com is extremely saddened to report that former WWE and WCW World champion Chris Benoit and his wife, former WCW and ECW personality Nancy "Woman" Benoit were both found dead today in Atlanta, Georgia. Obviously this will be a huge developing story in the days to come but at this point, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to the Benoits' family, friends, and fans at this time.
A meeting is currently ongoing at WWE TV and it is expected that tonight's three hour Raw will now be dedicated to Benoit's memory.
6:09 Update: WWE.com issued the following statement this afternoon:
"WWE is sad to report that Chris Benoit and his family have been found dead in their home. Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Tonight's Raw will be a tribute to Chris and his family."
Aw hell. It’s on FoxNews.com now...
I’m seriously bummed.
bttt
He is one of the last wrestler’s I’d suspect of any wrong doing. I sure hope that foul play was not involved.
RIP Chris Benoit.
If just ONE of these wrestlers starts crying I’m seriously going to lose it.
I recall legit tears on the Owen Hart tribute episode.
OMG I just hear on TMZ.com about it
Prayers goes to Benoit family
Yup, that was one I couldn’t get through with a dry eye. Same with Eddie Guerrero.
I’ve now got a one-line statement from Fayette Co. PD that confirms, but defers all other information until tomorrow morning.
We’re going to have a crew out there for our 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts.
Just flipped on RAW and saw Cena all torn up. Damn. Benoit was a good wrestler. Prayers for Benoit’s and his wife’s family
That one was tough. I think Owen was loved by most of those guys. That one was hard to get through. I remember Foley talking about his kids running around saying “I am NOT a nugget!!”
FYI: Just got word from Fayette Co., the deaths are being investigated as a homicide.
Whoa. He was always a hard worker and I never heard of him complaining about story lines - even when the old-timers were running the show at WCW. I’ll definitely miss seeing him wrestle.
Thanks - that's one huge detail. Very sad.

Sheriff’s Lt. Tommy Pope said the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he would release no other details about the deaths at the house near White Water Country Club.
Pope said the deaths were being investigated as homicides, but said the cause of death awaits autopsy results on Tuesday.
He would not say how the bodies were discovered, or who found them.

so that “confirms” the homicide investigation ....
I don’t like the way this is going ... w/ Chris calling off for 2 shows saying that the family was “sick” ... then all 3 found dead ....
my mind speculates ... what I refuse to write just yet ...
I don’t like the feeling I’m getting ... about how this may have occurred
Benoit was on the juice
wow.
Then I’ll say it - looks like a murder-suicide. Hope I’m wrong.
Just heard on the radio that Benoit was supposed to be attending a legitimate family emergency, but never showed up for it.
Meanwhile all we hear about is the dead woman in Ohio...
