This has been a good day for America.
For a while, it didnt look like Washington was going to listen to us regarding real immigration reform. Thankfully, weve been spared a serious mistake, but I wonder if things would have turned out the way they did without the work done by the bloggers, talk radio and the American people. Rush, Hannity, Laura Ingraham, RedState, Powerline, Pajamas Media and a lot of others have done a great job. Take that, Fairness Doctrine.
Fred Thompson is right. I remember in 1960 my mother taking me to the train station to see Kennedy. That was an old method of getting word to the masses. A person would have to make contact with people. Yes, there were newspapers but it was more localized, rather than the large conglomerates.
Then came the TV networks. There were only three. It was soon realized, perhaps in the mid-60s, that they could be dominated and get the group to basically report the same news and with the same slant. That was a whole lot easier than going on a whistle-stop tour. Cheaper, too.
Now, this new animal has come about. Couple it with the rise of Talk Radio, which could have liberal voices on it if only we would listen and make the libs profitable, and it is harder to dominate and control the information which is reaching us.
The control of information is vitally important to those in power. Truth is very dangerous and empowering.
