Anyone who thinks soccer is boring, missed a great match today. It's always great to beat Mexico at their game.

I’ve also seen Donovan doing interviews on Univision IN SPANISH, so let’s not be quite so harsh, OK?

Miss USA, who was abused so ingraciously by the Mexican crowd during the Miss Universe pagent, was at the game also. She even did an interview with the US TV guys before the game and made reference to her shabby treatment in Mexico.
She had a US jersey on and was clearly looking for a little payback. Glad to see she got it!

You can have all your cry-baby over-pampered millionaire NBA and NFL stars. I’ll take a bunch of guys who play a game for the passion of it, and take pride in representing our country.

Just ignore the idiot pansies that show up on every soccer thread.
I'll be the first to admit that just about every FR sports-related thread has some nay-sayer show up to cause trouble ("Baseball is boring"; "Football is for Neanderthals on steroids", etc). However, after a result like this, in an international match played in front of a bunch of frothing illegals, against a haughty opponent that won't show even a little class in defeat, if all they can do is show up with their usual assinine comments, well....
It says more about them (and their lack of patriotism and class, quite frankly) than anything else.

It's always great to beat Mexico at their game.
Now we need to beat them with a wall across the border.

What I don't understand is why people who claim baseball and soccer are boring can't get into hockey
I agree completely! Everyone wants action on TV, so watch hockey for crying out loud!

Thats that Bolshevik sport played by third world commie sympathizers throughout the anti-American world.
Do you have any idea how stupid that sounded? For one, the Russians didn't invent soccer, the English did, and for another, I don't think Brazil, Germany, France, and England, the four soccer superpowers, are third-world nations. And just because other nations are big on it and play well and the US doesn't does not mean it's an "anti-American" sport. Honestly, some people really need to learn where to draw the line between politics and sports.

Soccer is very lame, but congrats to the US team.

Soccer is fine for 5 year old girls. That’s about it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no soccer fan. I think the sport is for pansies.

Great game. Although the game was played in Chicago, the crowd made it look like a home game for Mexico. So did all the signs on the sideboards. I had to watch it on Univision. The only time I turned up the sound was to hear the announcer yell, "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL!!!!!"

Looks like Univision is channel 402 on direct TV. I am not even sure where Fox Sports 2 is and we may well not get it.

Oh, well, soon it will be time for the Premier League to start. Should be good, I would think Chelsea would win it again.
Maybe the USA team was overconfident, defeating Germany and Netherlands was pretty darn good. I’m taking it in stride, I don’t know about anyone else.
Our recent run: http://eloratings.net/USA.htm
We will surely win today, I am sorry Mexico is in the final; maybe this German manager Schafer for Jamaica can pull off another win.
