I live in South Austin and go to East Austin almost every day. the reality of East Austin is that it has gentrified and two bedroom tear down houses are selling for a quarter of a million dollars.

A friend of mine opened a coffee shop over in E. Austin to get in on the gentrifried yuppie market that is moving in there. All of the development has pushed the crack dealers south and the methadone addicts north.

It should be a relatively nice are in about 5 years.

Thompson St. is a bit further east of the areas that are gentrifying. It's a bit east of the Boggy Creek greenbelt - between Pleasant Valley and Webberville roads.
