Cutts Mirandized before asking for an attorney

UPDATE: 10:22 AM, Friday, June 22, 2007

Bobby L. Cutts Jr.’s attorney, Bradley Iams, said Cutts was read his Miranda rights by Stark County sheriff’s deputies when they initially questioned him a week ago Friday. That was the day his girlfriend, Jessie Davis, was reported missing, and before Cutts had invoked his right to an attorney.

Officers searched Cutts’ car Monday night and his house Wednesday night, and FBI agents interviewed him during the day Wednesday, Iams said. He said Cutts was not Mirandized during that interview, and he does not believe he was during the search.

Cutts mother, Renee Horne, said earlier this week that she believed her son was read his rights on Wednesday.

Davis, 26, was 9-months pregnant when she disappeared. Her 2-year-old son, Blake, was found alone in her Lake Township duplex. Cutts is the father of the boy and believed to be the father of the unborn child.
