When I was a child the TV and movie portrayed real heroes and family shows featuing parents actually MARRIED? to each other, who worked together raising good children. In the old westerns the good guys won,and the stories often had a little life's lesson for the viewer as well.Watch some old Rifleman or similar series.
Two generations later the TV and movie promote the perverts and criminals and ridicule the morals that sustained civilization
The girl who cut my hair last time in the national hair care chain PROUDLY told me of leaving her husband, who was really smart and made lots of money working with computers. She left because he was boring!,and she has since had three boyfriends who are convicted felons and exciting!!.

Maybe you should go get your hair cut somewhere else. When she asks why you’re leaving her, tell her she’s too “exciting” for your tastes. ;-)

The world hasn't changed - it's just become more societally acceptable for women to behave the way she did. A woman will do anything to feel a man's yang energy - she needs it like she needs air and water. If she isn't getting it from the boring computer guy, she'll go get it from some thug - and feel totally justified in doing so.
If a man isn't masculine enough, he will lose his woman...almost regardless of anything else he does right.

Although a lot of television shows today are trashy, many of yesteryear were very one-dimensional, and gave a very crude, basic, black and white* view of the world without delving much into the complexities that actually do exist in life.
While on morality and religious (Christian) issues there is a clear black and white divide, oftentimes in the secular arena (which also includes morality) the situation is much more gray. Consider the Cold War, when those westerns were made. The United States opposed Communism--as it should have--but did so partially by propping up malevolent dictators.
