Just announced on KFI news --- Corina Villaraigosa, wife of Los Angeles Mayor Anthony Villaraigosa, has filed for divorce in Los Angeles.
Talk show hosts John and Ken believe that the divorce, not just a separation, has been in the works for some time.
The mayor's real last name was Villar. He had combined it with his wife's last name to make it Villaraigosa. John and Ken have speculated that she is going to ask for her name back.
Antonio, not Anthony. We dare not Anglosize it. He loves doing his press conferences in Spanish.
I heard this at 6:00 this morning on the radio here in the bay area. Wonder why it took so long for LA to break the news?
He announced the separation yesterday. I think that she just filed today. Are you sure what you heard early this morning wasn’t the break up announcement? He did not use the word divorce yesterday.
Mr. La Raza got nicked with La Razor...........
So *her* last name was . . . "Aigosa"?
I have the TV on in the background last night, the local news. They announce that Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaigosa, is going to divorce his wife. The cut to a video of his announcement and Villar says the following:
“The citizens of Los Angeles have every right to know about my divorce. I take full responsibilty for it. I am not not going to answer any questions about my divorce or talk about it.”
Now this may not be the exact quote, but what a typical rat a-hole this criminal is. Yes he said we have the right to know about, but don’t bother asking any questions because I am not going to tell you anything.
Well, it was early and I was shaving, so I may not have heard it correctly. But I believe they said: LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and his wife are filing for divorce...
Maybe now he’ll go back to being Tony Villar. By the way, it would seem that he and Gavin Newsom are now evenly matched in the race for Governor in 2010.
I know what’s in heavy rotation in Los Angeles nowadays...”Corrina, Corrina” by Bob Dylan.
Obviously, it was Raigosa. I guess he dropped one of the R’s so it wasn’t Villarragoisa. Maybe that would have been just too silly. :) If he marries the city employee who is his current plaything, I wonder how she would feel about taking that name.
For those who haven’t heard it, John and Ken refer to the mayor as the human welcome mat for the illegals.
A friend of mine, a fellow science fiction writer, married and hyphenated his name and his wife's. They later divorced. Unfortunately, he had started publishing stories under his hypenated name, and effectively created a brand. Now he's stuck with his ex-wife's name on every story he publishes.
She filed for divorce in 1994 after it came to light that her husband had had an affair.
