I didn't see this posted...wow! From espn.com:
Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Wednesday will announce his intent to move to Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in 2008, multiple sources with intimate knowledge of the negotiations told ESPN.com Tuesday on condition of anonymity.
Just found this on foxsports.com:
Sources close to the situation have told FOX Sports analyst Larry McReynolds Junior will indeed call Hendrick Motorsports home next season and will be driving the No. 5 car currently occupied by Kyle Busch.
Ya know......I live in North Carolina and I’m sure this is huge news somehow to NASCAR fans (I’m not one), but I have no idea the import of this.
I am not as big a fan as most , just a small fan, but this is HUGE news.....just amazing....
geesh....I thought we had some old fashioned good people and now I read this....
He pleaded guilty to bribery and paid a big fine and also I think some house arrest, (not 100% sure on the house arrest part).
Anyway, a few years later he couldn’t get over the fact that he had a criminal conviction following him around so he had some influential friends with access to the President help him get his pardon.
For all of the charity work he has done and his endowments to leukemia research and the fact that he has had no prior or subsequent trouble with the law, I don’t begrudge him his pardon.
What does trouble me was that there are rumors that it cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars to get it which unfortunately was the way Clinton operated.
Ironic that he had to bribe the POTUS to get a pardon for bribery.
you know I can’t get it thru my thick head that this is just the way the world works...
