FWIW, I've been more or less OS-agnostic for 30+ years of computing, with times as a Mac-head, Unix-head, DOS-head, Linux-head, even (I admit) a Windows-head. I use what works best for the tasks at hand, and don't get into religious battles, because although they all have their good points, nothing is perfect, and at some level they all suck, too.
At different times of day, I'm on FreeRepublic with my Linux box (like now), or my Mac, or my Windows machine. It doesn't really matter to me; usually I'm Freeping in one window while (allegedly!) working in another couple of windows...
Virtual machines (VMs) changed my life. I can now have it all on one piece of hardware. The fact that it happens to be a Mac is nice, I like their styling. But that's secondary.
