When the scene first opened in Holsten’s, it showed a group of people in the dining area. I thought that was Tony and Carm and some friends -— and then it showed T at the mini juke. I was a little confused.

I think I want to watch the ending again on tomorrow’s rerun.

I was confused by that scene as well. I'll probably watch it again just to pick up any nuances I may have missed. I admit the last five minutes or so were tense, but..... nothing happened!

Why were they eating greasy onion rings and drinking Cokes in a diner like that anyway? The Sopranos were known for their love of fine, authentic Italian cuisine. Very strange, IMO.

Someone posted on another site that it was an allusion to the Worm Ouroboros - the snake that eats its own tail - the neverending circle. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouroboros. So, things go on as before for the Sopranos, nothing ever changes.

Personally, I think this is a more realistic ending than Tony getting whacked in the diner. These thugs go about their business everyday. Same old same old forever. I expect that's what happens w/Tony & Co.

Some of us may have had 1 too many literary criticism classes. : )
