Fox News | 6/8/07

A "screaming" Paris Hilton has been dragged off to serve her full 45 days in jail. Reportedly screamed and called to her mother as she was taken away. More.

Laws should apply to everyone equally. Anyone else would have been in jail the first time they were caught driving on a suspended. She was given a pass and took it for granted. You just can’t do that.

Let this be a lesson, to folks, who think they can give the finger to society, and walk away....wonder what she thinks of the body cavity searches....

Exactly. The really sad thing in all this, is how much attention is being paid to her “drama”. Like, is this really “news”?

We capture bad guys in Iraq and the WOT, and not a peep. It’s really messed up how the MSM and people in general focus on such crap and ignore what’s really important.

> She is being treated too severely by the system. If it was me, I’d probably have probation.

Wasn’t she already given probation, then violated it? So how would giving her probation again act as a deterrent? Or protect Society from her dangerous behaviors? Or punish her contempt of the Law and the Courts?

Probation would be a non-sentence, as ineffective as a large fine.

Nope, I say the Judge got it exactly right.

You're a little too gleeful over this.

I don't even think it's money envy.

It's because we are drenched with Paris publicity non-stop every day.

She's a high school dropout, with an IQ no larger than her bust measurement.

She's given every opportunity to comply with the law, and she's just too damn stupid and thinks the rules don't apply to her.

She thinks she can phone this into the judge this morning. No real reason for that, except that she's Paris Hilton. So she keeps the judge waiting for two hours until he sends some deputies to drag her butt into court.

I don't think it's possible to be too gleeful over this.

I agree with you. Sadly, too many folks can’t see this clearly and evaluate it fairly.

Hitman, I am a lawyer and, believe me, anybody, famous or not, who (i) violates probation, and (ii) gets caught driving on a suspended license not once, but twice, has got real time coming. She got her break when she got probation in the first place. Ignoring her good fortune and thumbing her nose at the legal system is what got her thrown in jail. I, for one, am happy see it.

I agree. And she’s only a “celeb” because of money and 2 sex tapes. Oh and a really crappy reality show. Too bad there isn’t this amount of outrage for Scooters lame “Gotcha”. Or this much attention focused on Sandy “Burglar”.

Can you imagine what the ladies who can’t grease the palms of- or, my theory, perform certain “services” for- a corrupt sheriff will do to this b*tch now?

Her fragile emotional state aside, I think she will be quite safe from physical harm from her fellow inmates. This is county jail, not state prison, so she won't be in with hard-core offers; mostly women serving short time for drug possession and prostitution. And lets face it, Paris is practically a patron saint for junkies and whores.

Besides, promising a couple of fellow inmates a free car waiting outside the jail on the day they get out and a scholarship for their kids can go a long way.

It’s not a very pleasant place.

She may soon ask to go back to her private room.

> Why is she being punished for the actions of the sheriff?

Maybe because if she had quietly done her time rather than having her hissy-fit tantrum the Sheriff wouldn’t have gotten into this mess in the first place?

I don’t blame the Sheriff for too much more than stupidity: thinking that the Judge didn’t really mean it.

A sustained, sobbing, temper-tantrum throwing spoiled brat can wear down even the most stoic of Sheriffs after three days... (unless he’s raised kids before).

Why can I not stop thinking about the family from their season 1? And how grossed out Paris and Nicole were living on a farm.

I am going to be blasted to hell for this but I just don’t think this is right. Why does the judge get to dictate what happens to her when the police already said that she was able to go home. If anything happens to her this would be a prime example of the family getting to sue. This whole situation is just crazy and insane.

mostly women serving short time for drug possession and prostitution.

Not even that.

Hilton was housed in the "special needs" unit of the 13-year-old jail, separate from most of its 2,200 inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. She didn't have a cellmate

"Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff's car..." Now, really... Would they do that to the average Jane in these circumstances?

Someone's not watching "COPS" enough: There are many "average Janes" who have warrants out for their arrest who end up in the backs of Sheriffs' cars.
