Yes, you’re right. She violated probation by driving on a suspended license. How’s Sandy Berger doing in the big house?

And by the the garv and yes I am angry at you my brother has spent hislife in jail for minor infactions but he cannot afford justice. Make no mistake that he deserves his punishiment but for his crimes he has definately served his time,”minor drug offensives”. G arv you have got to get a life and realize that celebrities might have to serve some time also. God I cannot express enough how much your post pissed me off!!!!!!

Thank you. I couldn’t agree more. As I said, my scumbag BIL has a rap sheet that would make Snoop Dog blush and he’s never breathed anything but free air.

Anybody remember the character played by Goldie Hawn in Overboard?

Paris. In the flesh.

Spoiled beyond belief. Nasty. Selfish. Shallow.

I am SO pleased to see she got her deserved 45 days. Let’s hope that in the end she has learned something. By not allowing her to face the consequences of her actions, her bad behavior, the sheriff has only reinforced for her her feeling that she is ‘special’. He did her no favors.

(Sheriff Joe? She could DO with a little green bologna!)

Be pissed off all you want, but if a little rich white girl getting hauled off to jail makes you feel better about life's injustices that's great. Paris Hilton doesn't help your brother, it make his situation worse because it's used as an example of how justice is blind.

"Why, look, we don't discriminate we even sent Paris Hilton to jail". Meanwhile you and I both know there are 5000 other Paris Hiltons that never set foot in a jail.

"My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice," Baca said.

Sheriff Baca undoubtedly has a better sense of how much jail time someone typically gets for violating probation by driving with a suspended license, than these people screaming for this much-loathed woman to do a month and a half of jail time. As I understand it her violation of driving with a suspended license did NOT involve drinking and driving.

And if someone wants to cut and paste the penalty provisions of the California Penal Code, that's fine, but it doesn't tell you what the average person actually ends up doing at the end of the day in this situation, which is a pretty common type of offense. People are always caught driving on a suspended license, because driving is such a big part of daily life for most people. And I am not saying there should be no consequence for doing so.

Having said that, I haven't read anything specifying what authority the Sheriff had to change the terms of confinement.

Perhaps the Sheriff is operating under one of those ACLU-lawsuit settlements on overcrowding, in which the prison authorities may release less violent offenders at their discretion to avoid overcrowding. I doubt that authority would legally override, however, a specific sentencing order by a judge which commanded the prison authorities NOT to give early release to a particular person under such circumstances. Of course, that raises the question of whether it is typical for judges to prohibit early release of people violating probation by driving on a suspended license.

I think Judge Sauer found his great white rich defendant who people love to hate, and relished the opportunity to grandstand and make an example of her.

And for the record, I can't stand Paris Hilton either.

Man garv you must live a sheltered life. Paris going BACK to jail is justice and if you cannot see that then we cannot communicate.

It sounds like you are part of her fan club.

You are defending the indefensible.

As I wrote in my post: And for the record, I can't stand Paris Hilton either.

Yeah right, I'm just part of her fan club. Sure.

I hardly live a sheltered life and at this point I can't figure out what your motivation for celebrating her incarceration is. I can only conclude that you think it somehow makes up for all the other times the rich and powerful avoid consequences the rest of us suffer.

As for me, I already knew life wasn't fair and locking up Paris Hilton isn't going to change that.

I agree with her. This isn't right. She should not have been released but unless she did anything illegal she shouldn’t have to go back. The judge should have sent the sheriff, for the rest of her term instead.
