Actually this list itself ain't bad, it's just most of the songs that are [deleted]. But not all, of course -- there's plenty of yacht rock to love. And who better to rank these tunes than VH1? There must be some holdovers from before the celebreality pox. Tomorrow night, Video Hits 1 will air their televised countdown of the Top 40 soft rock tunes, but go ahead and take a gander now and see if they hit the Marx.

Say what you will about this list, but we're with #1 (love us some Chris Cross). Also, whatever happened to the Yacht Rock guys? Weren't they developing something for VH1? Maybe they'll talk about it when it airs tomorrow. Too bad we won't be watching.
You poor sap. Anything for nookie. LOL
Egads.
Kiss may be the most talentless group ever to get rich. But then again, the competition is stiff.
And as the moon rises he sits by his fire
Thinking about women and glasses of beer
And closing his eyes as the doggies retire
He sings out a song which is soft but its clear
As if maybe someone could hear
Sorry....
consoling
“Well, fess up. What was your song with your first flame?”
William Tell Overture?
Not a fan of Abba, but they had the right stuff. They had repeated success, a career rebound and even a Broadway musical done with their music.
Performed and written by Henry Gross and written about the passing of (Beach Boy) Carl Wilson's Irish Setter of the same name!
Played at 78 RPM?
If I had to pick an America song, it would have been “Daisy Jane”.
If I had to pick a Toto song, it would have been “I Won’t Hold You Back”.
If I had to pick a Chicago song, it would have been “Hard Habit To Break”.
If I had to pick a Phil Collins song, it would have been “Against All Odds”.
BTW...how the hell does Cat Stevens’ “Peace Train” end up on a list like this?
How can you not like their braqnd of cheesy pop?
SOS, Fernando, Waterloo. Fun stuff.
Lovely. Gross is about right.
Everybody have you heard
He’s gonna buy me a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird don’t sing
He’s gonna buy me a diamond ring
And if that diamond ring won’t shine
He’s gonna surely break this heart of mine
And that’s why I keep on tellin’ everybody
Say yeah, yeah whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, uh, oh
(some more razor blade music from the 70s)
I think those are more rock n roll than “soft rock”.
Yeah, but I always had a fondness for Carly Simon’s looks.
That’s a good list. I might have put a few more REO Speedwagon songs near the top. That music, though...when you hear it you don’t know whether to laugh, cry or call a psychiatrist.
Diary by Bread needs to be on the list, for the wimpiest song ever.
People don’t often associate Alice Cooper with the word “Ballad”...but he did do a couple back in the mid 70’s.
“How You Gonna See Me Now?”
and
“I’ll Never Cry”
Either of these ring a bell with you? I love both of ‘em - especially the latter.
No, but I recall Only Women Bleed.
