Actually this list itself ain't bad, it's just most of the songs that are [deleted]. But not all, of course -- there's plenty of yacht rock to love. And who better to rank these tunes than VH1? There must be some holdovers from before the celebreality pox. Tomorrow night, Video Hits 1 will air their televised countdown of the Top 40 soft rock tunes, but go ahead and take a gander now and see if they hit the Marx.

Say what you will about this list, but we're with #1 (love us some Chris Cross). Also, whatever happened to the Yacht Rock guys? Weren't they developing something for VH1? Maybe they'll talk about it when it airs tomorrow. Too bad we won't be watching.

Peter Cetera literally ruined the band. After Terry Kath died, he took control it seemed and they lost all semblance of talent.
How true, pretty much every song Kath sang, (and I’ll even give him a pass on “Color My World”) was excellent.

Bread practically invented the “Wimp Rock” genre.

The early Cetera songs weren’t bad. They had little hint of the Muzak he would later pen. Some of the best songs were of Kath, Lamb and Cetera taking turns at the mike.
Actually, I’m old enough to remember when W.T.O. was the theme not only for the Lone Ranger, but also for Lark cigarettes and Jeno’s Pizza Rolls (who did a pretty good parody commercial with both a smoker and the Lone Ranger showing up to “talk about your theme song”).
Funny how Lamm practically disappeared from doing lead vocals, he sang most of their early hits.
She has that horse mouth, but still very doable.
They have a couple of decent songs that rocked. Mother Freedom and Truckin.

The Lone Ranger was my hero as a tike.
The best Gordon Lightfoot song no one's ever heard. Really beautiful, especially when the orchestration kicks in. One of my top five soft-rock songs of the 70s.
