Moonbats aren’t considering that something horrid is coming because they believe it is already here in the presence of President Bush and VP Cheney, etc.

Something like this could’ve prevented the Dems from politicizing Hurricane Katrina the way they did.

What is the difference between a President with these powers declaring a national emergency and your ordinary third world dictator? Alex, I'd take Constitutional questions for $200.00
What elected executive position takes an oath to uphold the Constitution in Jan ?
The directive establishes under the office of the president
See "under the office of the President".
Congress nor the SCOTUS fall under the executive powers.

30 count em 30 years with the gubbermink.
They do not know the difference between Shit and Shinola.
They are coverning their collective fat asses.
If there was something cooking that was able to be responded to, there would be total silence.

I don’t remember where it originated. I’m sure I swiped it from someone here, a couple of years ago. :-)

You see how seriously I'm taking this. LOL
I'e been working with the guvvies for the last three+ years. And if something were about to come down, we'd already see signs in the part of the world I call "home" for now.
But it's just business as usual. A few explosions each day, give or take a couple of firefights...nothing out of the ordinary. ;-)

"My loins ARE girded!" Hey Tet...might I ask what you use to gird your loins?
Due to a clerical error, I was originally under the impression we were supposed to "gild" our loins, but the 24k leaf got expensive every time I felt the need to "suit up." After my spelling was corrected, I started to use hammered copper sheeting, but it turned my skin green when my loins got sweaty. I switched to aluminum foil, but that kind of chafed. For the time being, I've settled on kevlar held in place with 100-mph tape (1/2 roll on each side; I've got some pretty healthy loins). Just seeing if you might know of something better.
Get back to me as soon as you can; from the sound of this, things could get series.

I think they are just refining their “what if” plan, since everyone in DC knows they are sitting on a bullseye. “What if” a lot of important people were suddenly lost?

You may have to settle for a smallish hillock. I'll just head for a duck-and-cover bunker.
Except it gets so hot in there.

The directive establishes under the office of the president a new national continuity coordinator whose job is to make plans for "National Essential Functions" of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments, as well as private sector organizations to continue functioning under the president's directives in the event of a national emergency.

I suggest we name it FEMA.

What if a lot of important people were suddenly lost?
Robert Carlyle Byrd (born November 20, 1917) survivers will demand WTC like payment for lost services & earnings, (based on his age to 100 years old).

Looks like he wants to create contingency plans for disasters at any and every location in the country and at any and every level of government. It was issued on May 9. And what was President Bush doing on May 9? He was visiting Greensburg, Kansas. Yes, that Greensburg. The one that was leveled by an 1.4 mile wide EF-5 tornado on May 4.
After seeing such destruction and what happened when the different levels of government weren’t working together after Hurricane Katrina, makes sense that the President would issue such a directive. Either he had been working on it for awhile and decided that this was a good time to issue the directive, or seeing such destruction reminded him that this year’s hurricane season starts on June 1, and he didn’t want a repeat of the Hurricane Katrina disaster response debacle. Either way, I’m feeling much better about going to the Indy 500 now.
