ENVILLE, Tenn. — A state trooper has been charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment after shooting his mother in the foot during a domestic dispute, authorities said Monday.

Terry Rainey was being held at Madison County Jail after the shooting on Saturday night, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said.

The shot was fired during an altercation with his father at the parents' home in Enville, about 30 miles southeast of Jackson. The nature of the argument was not immediately known.

The mother was treated and released from the hospital.

Rainey was placed on administrative leave with pay pending the investigation, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

“Rainey was placed on administrative leave with pay pending the investigation, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.”

With pay..... sigh. Even shooting your own mother isn’t enough to get you fired if you are a cop. They really are above the law.

administrative leave with pay

Some are more important than the rest of us citizen/serfs. If I shot someone in the foot I wouldn’t get a paid vacation, although I certainly wouldn’t be able to go to work either. I’d be in jail.
