"As a". I have noticed that many people when speaking or writing start their sentence with "As a". Followed by an array of PC protected classes such as, "as a women, or "as a person of color" or "as a single mother",etc. Most of the time after "As a" comes "I was offended by". The jest of their point is always the same, (I don't like what your saying, their will be no debate, shut up!) and they do it alot & get away with it. I'm sick of the "As a's". Am I wrong?

As a friend of yours, I say try it again. As a friend of yours who knows you well, I say you're trying to get me in trouble.
But it's tempting...

As a professional editor, I would say that the expression you decry is legitimate, if not overused.
But as a “Freeper,” I would agree that the expression is frequently a signal that some pseudo-outrage is about to follow.
In short, when used to explain the speaker’s qualifications/credentials or perhaps special circumstances which led to his statement, the phrase is helpful. However, when meant to suggest that the speaker’s opinion is sacrosanct or to warn in advance that dissent will not be tolerated, it smacks of brow-beating.

As a Westheimer Wander, I would never try to get you in trouble. You can handle that all by yourself. *lol*

Sorry I missed it but congratulations on your new socks. Thank you!
And they were so comfortable. My feet felt like singing.
And, as you know, socks are only new once. It's a pretty big occasion and I don't get why the announcement was pulled.
*Sigh*...socks grow old so fast.

Have you ever put a sock over a dogs snout & watch it pull it off? Yeah, good times.

Rats... Hmmm... perhaps I should have interpreted the "touched" comment as an invitation, not an accusation.

Have you ever put a sock over a dogs snout & watch it pull it off? Yeah, good times. Yeah, one of those single serving potato chips bags works pretty well with cats, too. They get their whole head stuck in there and walk backwards trying to pull it off.
And I didn't stick my cat's head in there, either. The cat did it.
I did stick masking tape on all four of his paws once, though...and watched The Dance.

I’ve noticed a lot of people answer a question or start a sentence by saying “Yeah, no...”. Which is it?! Pam on “The Offfice” does it all the time.

Heres a good one. Put your pet in a room & close the door. Then put some meat or cheese on the floor on the other side of the door just out of reach. Hours of entertainment.
