The BEST thing about the Hippie movement was the R. Crumb comix. However, Crumb himself was not a hippie.

Speaking of r. crumb, my friend Brian Robertson (Austin) wrote a book on the blues (Little Blues Book) and wanted r. crumb to do the illustrations. Brian called him and crumb agreed over the phone. Brian could not believe his good fortune. It really "made" the book. Luckily crumb is into original roots blues.

Crumb is probably the most un-PC comic artist of the post-war era. Probably stemmed from his spending the early part of his childhood in a North Philadelphia neighborhood that had “changed.”
