"-- AMONG OTHER THINGS, TALBOT'S BOOK IS AN IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION TO A RECENT AND GROWING CHORUS OF KENNEDY AUTHORS AND RESEARCHERS, INCLUDING GERALD POSNER, THE MOST OFT-CITED AUTHORITY FOR THE "ONE GUNMAN/NO CONSPIRACY" THESIS, CALLING FOR A REOPENING OF INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE JFK ASSASSINATION OR, AT MINIMUM, FOR THE CIA TO RELEASE PERTINENT, IDENTIFIED DOCUMENTS THAT MIGHT SHED LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT. --"

I had no idea that the author of "Case Closed" was asking for the case to be "reopened"

I didn't either. Look, it's real simple: there is no fourth bullet, ANYWHERE. No one, ever, has come up with so much as a fourth bullet, let alone MANY other bullets that multiple gunmen would have fired. And, given the trajectories, you can bet the Dallas cops and FBI would have searched every square inch of Dealey Plaza that day---or that in the deades since, HUNDREDS of people with metal detectors have scoured the area. Zip, zero, nada.

Second, try as they might, NO ONE has been able to produce the sound of a fourth shot (let alone other shots) on the dictaphone recording. I have listened to it. There are clear differences in the motorcycle backfire and the shots (again, see #1).

Third, I think there is a huge difference between admitting (which Posner does NOT do) that there are unanswered questions raised by David Lifton and perhaps by Howard Donahue and concluding that there was another/were other gunman or gunmen. I don't see the two as mutually exclusive. For example, Lifton claims that the body appeared to have undergone a "pre-autopsy," and he establishes without question (I think) that the body arrived at the back of Bethesda, in a black ambulance, unloading a grey shipping casket with JFK inside. If true, that in no way means LBJ "did it." Rather, it means that LBJ, terrified that the Russkies may have killed JFK, wanted to know the "skinny" before the "official" word leaked out so he would be prepared to deal with a potential nuke war if necessary.

Another thing to consider: Bobby Kennedy, not J. Edgar Hoover, was the most powerful law enforcement person on earth. Whatever happened, his actions must be accounted for. Why didn't he order a full-scale investigation? There are several potential explanations. One is that he KNEW what JFK was up to, and didn't want all those "skeletons" revealed, particularly the Cuban stuff and the bimbos. Another, more intriguing alternative, is that Donahue is right: that Lee Harvey Oswald fired two shots, hitting JFK once and severing his spine, but that the third shot, the head shot, came from an AR-15 directly behind JFK . . . in the Secret Service trail car (photos validate such a weapon directly behind JFK at the time of the shooting, in the hands of agent George Hickey). Donahue argues that Hickey picked up the rifle, began to turn as he flipped the safety off, and slipped, discharging the weapon in JFKs direction and hitting him.

Seems far-fetched, but again, think of Bobby: aside from my first explanation, this is the ONLY other explanation as to why he would not have exhausted all resources looking for the "killer." He knew who the killers were---Oswald and the accidental shooter, an SS agent. What would have been the value in allowing THAT to come out into the public? So pin it all on Oswald, who was guilty anyway, and seal it up.

The point is, there are a lot of explanations that tie up the loose ends without getting into looney tinfoil hat conspiracy theories.

Best theory I heard to date was a caller on some late night talk show who said it was a suicide. Claimed Kennedy shot himself and had the whole theory worked out with answers for everything.

Had to give him credit for original thinking if nothing else....

LOL.

Yeah, all-caps reporting enhances the credibility of any report. It’s not like it makes the author look like a barking loon or anything.

Why wouldn't he? If he believes the evidence will support his hypothesis, why not bring all the evidence to light? Silence just breeds rumors.

Well I was thirteen when John Kennedy died. After I heard Oswald had spent time in Russia, I thought that Kruschev had ordered it because Kennedy had embarrassed him during the Cuban missle crisis.

Well why not? Do conspiricies end at the border of the US?

To: tpaine; Shooter 2.5

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1828428/posts?page=374#374

Shooter 2.5 has done a good job in various postings focusing on the actual facts which demonstrate there were not multiple shooters who struck Kennedy.

I have yet to see anyone offer a sensible, persuasive counter-response to this evidence. All of the “multiple shooter” theories appear to be based on misrepresentations, like the claim that the force of the bullet in the head shot forced Kennedy’s head backwards, when the film evidence shows that his head went forwards at the moment of impact, and that the backward jerk of the head happened after, not at the moment of impact.

Or the misrepresentation than JFK and Connolly were seated at the same height in the limo, and therefore only an impossible “magic” bullet could have shifted upwards in midair to strike both men.

Or, that just because the Warren Report was slipshod, that in and of itself proves that Oswald was not the one who killed JFK, rather than simply proving the fact that the staff was sloppy.

There is certainly ground for speculation that others may have encouraged Oswald in the killing and that Jack Ruby protected other unknown people by killing Oswald, but the physical evidence clearly demonstrates that Oswald fired the shots that struck the limo and its occupants from the school book depository. His guilt in this matter is further supported by the fact that Oswald shortly afterwards killed Officer Tippett.

I have never had much interest in conspiracy theories or belief in our capability to sort them out, and I am mentioning a recent audiotape only for the purpose of making those of you who don't know of it aware of it. By no means do I take it at face value. So please no flaming criticisms for my contribution. There is an audiotape of E Howard Hunt made and sent to one of his children and published by that person last month several months after his father's death. In it he claims that the JFK assassination was headed by Cord Meyer, CIA number 2 in Plans ( Black Ops ) on his exit in 1977, at the instigation of LBJ. It seems well known that his wife, divorced in 1958 ) was one of JFK's girlfriends, to try to put it politely, and that Meyer was not happy about this. Several of the people involved are named, and Hunt indicates his role was backup and not active. The tape and the transcript are referenced here It doesn't explain how the CIA could be so effective with JFK and so ineffective with Castro.

No offense intended to anyone, but right now in the year 2007..43 1/2 years later our enemy is Islamofacists that want all of us dead.
Along with a dem party that wouldn`t accept JFK as a member.

If you don`t accept that LHO was a lone assassin than so be it.
You will likely never get the satisfaction of learning anything more.

I just can`t help but wonder after close to half a century later, with all that has happened and changed in the world, what difference it makes.
