Teacher accused of selling kid’s jacket [on eBay]

A Hillsboro mother found her daughter’s missing winter coat on eBay, and now a teacher at the girl’s elementary school faces charges of theft and computer crimes.

Elizabeth Logan, 41, is on paid administrative leave from Jackson Elementary. “She denies stealing the coat, saying she got it from a lost-and-found,” Cmdr. Chris Skinner said. The mother searched the school’s lost and found for the coat, then decided to turn to eBay for a replacement.

After finding a seemingly identical coat, she noticed that the seller was from Hillsboro. The mother alerted another bidder that the coat might be stolen, and the other bidder relayed the information to the seller, Logan. Skinner said Logan asked the other bidder to outbid the girl’s mother. Logan’s salary is nearly $69,000 a year, and she has taught 20 years at two elementary schools. She is to appear in court Friday.

there is a huge custom made boutique children’s clothing
business on ebay. i’ve seen some auctions soar to over
$500. some moms don’t want their kid looking like all the
other gymbo clad tots and they definately don’t want their
little one to look like she’s raided some pop tart’s
closet. some of the designers have even taken their
talents on to much bigger things. you’d be amazed.

I can understand that but this story is about a USED coat sold on ebay. The postage to send the coat could be more than the value of the coat its self.

you’d be very surprised at the sources of
ebay sellers of used childrens clothing.
the items they sell are not always their
own children’s outgrown clothing.

“In service” days aren’t counted against the manditory days for the students.

The teacher pay scale, with a PhD, tops out at about $80k around here, with 20+ years of service.

That’s why they can’t hire anybody - no one is willing to take the pay cut.

not really. i buy clothing for our daughter
without having her try things on all the time.
alot of times i buy her things when i’m out
shopping on my own. i’ve made her enough things
so i know her measurements. most listings, even
store used bought things, include measurements.
if they don’t include measurements, buyers can
always ask the seller.

custom made things are made from the measurements
provided by the buyer. ;)

Exactly. For 5 years of college, the pay may not be comparable. Not to mention that you $till have to take college cour$e$ a$ long a$ you teach. You end up PAYING to go to school during your unpaid “summer vacation” just so that you can keep your job during the school year.

Sad that teachers are the current whipping boys for all of the nation's ills.

Me, I’m the kind of person that buys their kids’ clothes off of ebay. I get most things off of ebay. Curtains, tablecloths, Persian rug. Our van!

True... but in service days are not mandatory for the teachers...

The heck they aren’t!!!!!!

In-service is entirely mandatory!!!!

There are other weekend days that aren’t mandatory, but in-services ARE!
